TOP-M119: Topadur Pharma and Oshen Holdings To Develop New Androgenic Alopecia Treatment
Correction (07/05/2024): Topadur Pharma has been in contact (read the comments below) and let us know that TOP-M119 does not contain sildenafil and nitroglycerin. We have corrected the reference to this in the article below. The information originated from a website called Il Messaggero, quote “The most curious thing is that the currently candidate drug, known in the scientific community as TOP-M119, has the same active ingredient as Viagra, the pill that counteracts erectile dysfunction, combined with the action of nitroglycerin”. Thanks to Topadur Pharma for getting in contact with us about this.
On June 13th, Topadur Pharma, a Swiss clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, partnered up with Oshen Holdings to co-develop TOP-M119, a topical formulation for the treatment of androgenic alopecia.
What is TOP-M119?
TOP-M119 is a novel dual-mode vasodilator that activates the cGMP-enzyme regulatory system, increasing blood flow to the hair follicles. This improved microcirculation is believed to support hair regrowth.
In preclinical studies, TOP-M119 and its structurally related compound TOP-M111 demonstrated potent hair growth promotion in predictive animal models for alopecia. Furthermore, the drug has also shown efficacy in chemotherapy-induced hair loss models.
Researchers have developed a dissolving microneedle system for transdermal delivery to enhance the delivery of TOP-M119 to hair follicles. This system helps to deliver the drug more effectively to the target site, potentially improving its efficacy while reducing the risk of systemic effects.
According to Topadur Pharma, this collaboration with Oshen Holdings will allow for the advancement of the development of TOP-M119 and thus provide faster access to patients.
Reflections
While the topical formulation and dissolving microneedle system may reduce the risk of systemic effects, we will have to see when human clinical trials start in 1-2 years.
What do you think about this potential new treatment? Let us know in the comments.
When Viagra enters the body, it releases nitric oxide
As far as I remember, there were attempts to treat AGA with nitrous oxide
Nitroglycerin is the technical name for the ester of glycerol and nitric acid
Both compounds have nitrogen
1-2 years is annoying. These drugs can be purchased all over the internet, I’m sure guys will be trying them and providing input on the hair forums soon.
Is there anything else coming out in 2024? Seems like another wasted year.
This sounds dangerous and unusable. All I want to know is: Of all of these treatments we keep reading about here and elsewhere, and hearing about in the news, has anyone actually got something on the market we can use now? It’s been nothing but talk for the 25 years I’ve been following this topic, companies being purchased by wig makers to get them off the market before they launched, and promising products that mysteriously disappeared before release
And round and round we go….
https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/eirion-therapeutics-announces-initiation-of-first-in-human-clinical-trial-evaluating-topical-et-02-for-the-treatment-of-androgenic-alopecia-302186429.html
Eirion therapeutics have started phase 1 for et-02 topical for androgenetic alopecia.. They go on to say that they believe et-02 can also prevent and treat hair greying and they plan to persue that in the future but if it’s the same then will the trials for androgenetic alopecia not also show that it is reactivatiing melanocyte stem cells and be a double celebration? I’m confused as to why they are doing them separately can someone explain as to why that may be, thanks
Is this some kind of a joke?
I would like to clarify, that our drug candidate TOP-M119, which I designed and invented, should not be mixed up and compared with Sildenafil or with nitroglycerin. We place saftety utmost importance and we follow all the regulations for development to guarantee safety and efficacy for the patients. I regret that reflections and assumptions are made here on the basis of a press release.
Topadur Pharma AG makes all the effort to provide patients in the future with a safe and effective alopecia treatment.

We emailed Reto Naef, asking for more information. We received this reply:
“TOP-M119 is a Topadur patented unique molecule, which has a new mode of action to increase local blood flow. In animal models of androgenic alopecia it is more than 1000 fold more potent compared with minoxidil and has an earlier onset for the anagen phase of the hair cycle. In all the in-vivo investigations TOP-M119 was perfectly safe. We have finished preclinical efficacy pharmacology and are now doing the complete IND package. Topadur Pharma AG has another molecule with the same mode of action in clinical development for wound healing. This asset in in clinical phase 2a and has passed all safety assessments so far. Based on this we are very optimistic that also TOP-M119 will fulfill all safety requirements for human testing, which should start in about one year from now”.

Notice oxide opens up the capillaries. It’s about blood flow. Eat beets, take a shot of high quality olive oil once a day and get exercise. No waiting period for development. You’re welcome.
Hopefully elicits positive results! Minoxidil and finestride only help in the infancy of alopecia. Obviously, we need something better.
Hi FT can we get an update on Dr Rassman’s hair Nevis treatment? Thank you
