Eirion Therapeutics Initiates Phase 1 Trial for ET-02 in Androgenic Alopecia
There is more news in the androgenic alopecia space, as Eirion Therapeutics begins a Phase 1 trial for ET-02, a topical treatment.
What is ET-02?
According to Eirion Therapeutics, ET-02 works by targeting hair follicle stem cells that have become defective or inactive in individuals suffering from androgenic alopecia, enabling hair follicles to resume normal hair growth. Unlike other treatments that target hormonal pathways, Eirion claims that ET-02 directly addresses the fundamental cause of androgenic alopecia by rejuvenating defective hair follicle stem cells leading to more effective hair growth and minimizing side effects associated with hormonal treatments. Eirion also mentions that ET-02 may prevent hair graying by impacting melanocyte stem cells responsible for hair color.
The Phase 1 study will be a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial that will take place over 28 days in three centers in the US and assess the safety of ET-02 in 24 participants.
Reflections
As ET-02 progresses through clinical trials, several important questions need to be addressed:
- Efficacy: Will ET-02 prove to be significantly more effective than current treatments for androgenic alopecia in larger, more diverse populations?
- Long-term Safety: What are the long-term safety implications of using ET-02, given its novel mechanism of action?
- Broader Applications: Will ET-02 be effective in preventing or reversing hair greying by targeting melanocyte stem cells?
Addressing these questions will be important for the future development and success of ET-02 as a treatment for androgenic alopecia.
Let us know in the comments what you think of this treatment.
Sounds cool. Anything new coming out in the remainder of 2024?
Thanks
My opinion is that DHT is not the main cause of AGA
How many different drugs and cosmetic products have targeted DHT and achieved nothing or very little
Obviously, AGA is a very unexplored area and at the moment very incomprehensible to the layman.
EIRION THERAPEUTICS is promising because it works in a different way than drugs that work on DHT
It’s just my opinion
How long does it take to go from Phase 1 trial to market availability?
5 years…its always 5 years…its been 5 years for 30 years of my life. Always remember its always 5 years.
good morning dear friends !!!
I’ve been waiting for an improvement for many years as the cure seems even further away, but everything remains in tests, trials and so far nothing is effective and within everyone’s reach!! I live in Brazil, I’m 59 years old and I’m losing hope because aging makes things worse!! What a shame not to find quality of life, to get out of depression at this point in my life!! I congratulate everyone who makes an effort, thank you.
Let’s go FT!!! i’ve been waiting a long while to see this company get into human studies
I’m excited about this one. I strongly believe that any hairloss products that act on the hormonal system will be proven to carry serious side effects in the long-term, and that they are basically a dead end. Even Kintor’s Pyr gives me crippling insomnia and a range of other side effects. We need to be looking for other deeper mechanisms of action and root causes.
Pyrilutamide has not been approved and the data shows it is generally well-tolerated. The most common adverse event is contact dermatitis. So who knows what you are really using.
Pyr was no different than Propecia for me. Worked for years but then my endoc system was destroyed. My hormones only held on for about 15 years then with kids, wife, family, etc I could no longer tolerate the low test and thyroid finally had to come off of it
What do you mean? You had access to pyrilutamide? How? it hasn’t been released.
or are you saying you were taking Propecia? If so, what dosage and how is it administered? orally?
Thanks for posting this, one of the most interesting companies. Hoping things go well on safety and the claims they have made they are able to back it up in further bigger longer clinical trials… Looking forward to hearing more from them in the near future hopefully.
Where are the studies taking place? Are they accepting volunteers?
In Texas, USA. They are taking 24 volunteers. Don’t know the eligibility criteria.
I agree with others very exciting drug.
We live in Fort Worth. Do they have a contact number for volunteers? Thank you.
With that being said, do bald scalps still have stem cells on them?
Yea they seem to do, some researcher found that out
How do you sign up for the trial? I don’t see it posted anywhere.
Hasn’t it been confirmed that the main issue is the progenitor cells have migrated out of the hair follicle bud? Is this an exosomes treatment? What about an extracellular matrix to keep these cells in-place once returned?
very interesting bit of news.
very interesting. hope that turns into very positive.
i hope before i get to old that there is a viable cure. If they can put a man on the moon 50 years ago why cant they solve a AA problem.
i agree with the previous comments. maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel
Really!
