New Yorker Hair Loss Cure Article

The New Yorker Magazine published an article this morning on the truly “age old quest” of curing hair loss.

The article, written by Amos Barshad, is not your typical mainstream media wrap on baldness and its treatment horizon. Amos spoke to a large pool of the hair growth industry companies and household names. Featured in the piece are: Replicel, Angela Christiano, RiverTown Therapeutics, Follicum, Histogen, and Bernstein Medical, to name a few. The article also touches upon hair systems, archaic dysfunctional hair remedies, and a little bit of presidency. And, oh yeah, I have a few quotes that are sprinkled into the story. All in all, I think the article does a good job articulating the interest that people have in their hair and how the industry is working to solve this issue.

Good to remember that the “archaic dysfunctional hair remedies” are the only thing we have today.

I was talking about the paraffin injections. But yes, hopefully we get some new legit treatments to utilize this year!

While not the holy grail, those “archaic dysfunctional hair remedies” (fin, dut, minox) have kept a good deal of hair on my head for over 30 years with little to no side effects. I’m 55 and started to loose my hair at 17 so I for one am grateful for what we’ve had thus far and am looking for better treatments before I kick the bucket! 🙂

Yes Joseph I saw what you were inferring in your previous comment. My reply was directed at the guys that whine about current treatments and also say sides are imminent.

Just read the article. Good piece, especially for people who don’t read blogs every day. Funny also that you are mentionned several times 😉

A question popped into mind when I was reading it, and I know admin that you will probably have limited info on that, but I’m looking more for your personnal opinion.

A lot of us are betting on Replicel now, as being one of the top players and available quite soon in all theory. In their video, Replicel says that unexisting hair (bald patches) will be grown again. On the other hand, the article says that Replicel can only pretty much save what is left and once a hair follicle is destroyed, you can’t bring it back, hence making hairclone the only solution for that.

What are your thoughts on this ? thx in advance

The quote about not being able to bring follicles back once they are shrunken is simply a quote from the perspective of what technologies are available today, in other words a perspective of hair science from the past. Multiple approaches are looking to revive shrunken follicles.

l had the luck and pleasure to speak to Howard the CEO of Leohardt ventures by sheer accident this last week.. He told me the upcoming Haircel trials in the US had to be done in South Africa due to excessive FDA associated costs and that his timeline on the perfection of his whole body regeneration technology was about 5 years.. The whole body regeneration details are in a section of his website at the bottom of the home page and are a treat for the open mind ..A very engaging and friendly man, the Elon Musk of this field (in my opinion) We are living in a wildly changing world its amazing to be here..

That’s an awesome comment Steve, thanks so much for sharing.

What a coincidence you bumped into him, I wonder how it happened.
