OstriGrow Before & After Photos Plus Discussion

This page is dedicated to user updates, discussion, and before/after photos from various readers who are testing the OstriGrow product.

Will This Have Any Effect? (www.ostrigen.com)

Somewhat surprisingly, a company selling a new OTC hair growth product has offered to send sample products to a group of participants who have agreed to share their before and after photos in return. A few of these trial subjects have also agreed to share their photos here on Follicle Thought. *This site is not endorsing the OstriGrow product, we simply want to create a place for people to discuss the free OstriGrow tests taking place.

Bottle came today. Directions say spray small amount on then massage in. Took before pics after buzz cut with 2 guard. Will post before and after pic if there is any growth

    • Follicle Thought on June 14, 2021 at 8:02 pm

      Thanks Dave!

    • Toccata on June 14, 2021 at 9:08 pm

It says on the website only the first bottle is free — their study was growth at 3 months and they say they are… “confident you will see new growth and thicker hair within two months.” That’s how they’ll try to get you to pay up for a few months.

I think guys on hairloss forums are much less naive/gullible than the general public. I will apply the free first month, see my results, see how it went for you guys, and if none of us had any real growth, I’ll write it off as another Brotzu.

      • Toccata on June 14, 2021 at 9:16 pm

I bet they’ll try to tell us we didn’t give it enough time to see results and if we just pay for a three to six month supply we would *most likely* have growth.

Then I’ll tap the sign: “We don’t ever want people to pay unless OstriGrow works” and remind them to keep sending me free bottles until it works. I’ll pay once it works—that’s the deal doctor.

        • Neil mcilwaine on July 17, 2021 at 10:24 pm

Does it work and how much is it

      • Jose on July 19, 2021 at 3:46 pm

        Some improve ?

  2. Dave on June 14, 2021 at 9:55 pm

You all are probably right. I think one bottle is supposed to last 90 days though My original email from them said they were sending a 90 day supply and the letter that came with the bottle said you don’t need to use very much

  3. Anthony D Salazar on June 17, 2021 at 12:25 pm

Greetings all. I received my sample bottle finally today. Letter says this is a 6-week supply, so I will expect to use it for about 6 weeks and give you my feedback in August.

I am 27/NW 1.5, mild temple recession and mild thinning, mostly concentrated to the left side of my scalp. Since most of my hair loss was from telogen effluvium from 2019-2020 (I never recovered density over my left temple), it should theoretically be easier to regrow the now thin areas than in AGA. Minoxidil did not work for me after 9 months 2 mL per day and I don’t use finasteride. Since my hair hasn’t changed since the TE subsided, I highly doubt that any regrowth I may some day experience would be from normal recovery.

Best of luck and I’ll check in in August.
I will do my best with before and after pics, but already now I can comb my hair to make it look like I don’t have any hair loss, so

  4. Stu Greenberg on June 23, 2021 at 3:41 pm

Hey there, this is Stu, the CEO of the company that has developed OstriGrow, I’m really pleased that Anthony has brought our product to the attention of Follicle Thought followers. We’re all looking forward to seeing the hair growth results. So far, about 80% of people using OstriGrow have seen new hair growth within 3 months, some sooner. I use OstriGrow myself, as do other family members.

However, we know that OstriGrow won’t help everyone. Because OstriGrow neutralizes DHT and 5-alpha reductase in the follicles, it’s only effective in cases of AGA. We suspect it won’t help with Anthony’s telogen effluvium.

Each 50ml bottle of OstriGrow lasts about 6 weeks, depending on the extent of the hair loss – you spray only a little on the area where you want to grow hair and then massage your scalp so the OstriGrow penetrates the follicles. In that period, most folks see some activity like thickening of existing hairs and emergence of regrowing hairs. Our current offer provides the first bottle for free and the second at half price ($19) but we would like to extend a special offer to users of Follicle Thought. If you are willing to share before and after 3-month photos, we will send you the second bottle for free. Simply visit the Web page listed and register a username and password. We will then send your first bottle. When you need the second bottle, purchase it using the Coupon Code FT, which will give you a 100 per cent discount.

Please keep the discussion going here on Follicle Thought, post your before/after questions and ask us questions. I’m happy to respond!

    • James on June 23, 2021 at 6:27 pm

      Thanks stu!

Quick question, have you done pharmacodynamic study’s for DHT reduction / inhibition and for antibody penetration?

      Kind regards,
      James

    • Follicle Thought on June 23, 2021 at 8:31 pm

Hi Stu, thanks for joining the discussion here. Offering the second bottle for free to people who share photos is a respectable gesture, I don’t mind you offering that here. Any long time commenters interested in trying the 2 bottles of Ostrigrow?

  5. Antonio on June 23, 2021 at 7:34 pm

Soon new users will appear with spectacular results …. We should know which users are older, the date they created the account. To give more value to old users. Because now they will create new accounts to do false advertising. Who agrees with me?

    • Follicle Thought on June 23, 2021 at 8:22 pm

Antonio, I find it unlikely. There’s no need to bring that kind of energy into the discussion at this point. This thread is pretty quiet I’m sure you’ve noticed. So far Anthony, Toccatta, and Dave (although Dave may be MIA now) were the original readers that said they would trial Ostrigen and share photos and testimonials if they had a positive result. If you’re concerned, you can base all of your opinion on those 3 users.

All are welcome to sit back, relax and see what comes of the photos, I’m the one in charge of deciding if things seem to be on the up and up. ?

  6. Anthony D Salazar on June 24, 2021 at 10:38 am

I will proceed to order bottle #2 of OstriGrow and continue experimenting.

I tried to add this in my former comment, but somehow it didn’t get through:

I am 99% certain that most of my hair loss is from TE, that said, I am confident hat AGA plays some role in the slow (or absent) recovery as I had some (very) minor thinning that preceded the onset of TE. I will certainly post before/after pics, but I’m afraid that these won’t be very useful as I can already style my hair to completely hide my hair loss in photos (the thinning only becomes apparent once it’s parted–one more reason that I am confident that this is not typical AGA loss) and my hair looks drastically different depending on time since last haircut. I will therefore only truly be able to give a qualitative assessment of the product, but if there are improvements in my hair, I will certainly notice.

  7. Hussein on June 24, 2021 at 5:25 pm

I think they are scammers, I contacted them to get free treatment for three months, they asked me to send a photo of the baldness area, but after sending the photo they told me that this offer is only for people living in the USA and Canada, knowing that they knew that I live outside of these countries before asking to send the photo, I think they’re just collecting photos for some purpose

    • Follicle Thought on June 24, 2021 at 11:46 pm

Did you ask why they requested a photo from you even though they knew you wouldn’t be eligible for the study?

      • Hussein on June 27, 2021 at 6:01 am

Yes I asked, the reply was unsatisfied, see below the received reply from Stu:

The request for the photo was issued automatically from an old link. Our Evaluator Program ended last fall. I am not sure how you got that link. Would you mind forwarding it to me, so that we can check it out?

We do not currently request that people send us photos. We just recommend that they take “before” and “after” photos themselves to check progress.

    • Stu Greenberg on June 25, 2021 at 7:32 am

Sorry for the confusion, Hussein. We’ve been overwhelmed with orders coming from outside of North America. The email requesting photos was automatic, triggered by the order. We clearly need to fix that.

I am scratching my head a bit as to why you think we might be scammers. I don’t think scammers would be giving away free bottles. But that’s just me.

      • Hussein on June 27, 2021 at 5:47 am

Fix your website, you can do it within minutes, and people will understand, otherwise they will think about your company the same what I think.

  8. Anthony D Salazar on June 25, 2021 at 3:39 am

Hello @Stu. I am having trouble applying the “FT” coupon code. I get an automatic response telling me that the coupon code does not exist. If this issue can be fixed, I will proceed to order a second bottle. That will bring the total trial time frame to approximately 3 months. If I notice positive changes in that time, I will proceed to order an additional 3-6 months’ worth and track my progress here.

    • Stu Greenberg on June 25, 2021 at 7:26 am

Sorry. That coupon code has not been set up yet. I’ll email you and post a note here when the coupon is available.

  9. Stu Greenberg on June 25, 2021 at 8:49 am

We’ve had a lot of orders coming from folliclethought.com, so we would like to set up a special arrangement for folks that will post before and after three month photos.

People wishing to participate should order the OstriGrow free trial at https://www.ostrigen.com/offers. They should also send an email with subject: folliclethought.com to info@ostrigen.com.

We will send participants two bottles at no charge. We will ask participants outside the U.S. and Canada to cover shipping charges, about USD 40.

  10. Toccata on June 25, 2021 at 2:48 pm

    My Ostrigrow arrived.

It’s a clear, odourless solution of Ostrich Antibodies in Ethyl Alcohol. It comes in a 50ml spray bottle (similar size to a 60ml minoxidil bottle). I spritzed it a couple times on my crown and hair line and it dried instantly, no stickiness. It’s like vapour. I’ll follow the protocol and take pictures every month so I’ll have three photos to compare. My hair is very short so no combover, lighting trickery—when the trial is over, I’ll mark the individual hairs and share the results for everyone to judge—and admin can have the original full resolution pictures for use however he wishes.

I think I’m a good, honest candidate. Here is my baseline crown picture:
    (1) Note the green dot formation at the thinnest point: https://ibb.co/DKFrS0L

    (2) A close up of the green dot formation shows much of the area is covered in miniaturized hair. If the ostrich antibodies reduce scalp DHT, these smaller follicles should darken and increase in size. The endpoint is full restoration of all hairs, thus filling in the bald area completely.
    https://ibb.co/KwGVTNP

    * It’s important to mention I’m still gonna apply minoxidil and microneedle once a week because I want the synergistic effect; I need to address my hairloss at every angle simultaneously. I’m not on any DHT inhibitor but Ostrigrow. If there is a real chance at recovery, I’ll buy a year supply and continue documenting my results. Best case scenario is a side-effect free alternative to Fin.

Best of luck guys. I’ll report back here every few weeks. Off I grow.

    • Follicle Thought on June 25, 2021 at 5:00 pm

      Awesome stuff Toccata, thank you.

    • Stu Greenberg on June 26, 2021 at 6:28 am

      Great plan, Toccata!

Try to massage lightly once you’ve sprayed, so that you get as much liquid as you can into the follicles. The active ingredients (antibodies) do not penetrate the skin. All of the action is in the follicles where the DHT and 5-alpha reductase lurk.

    • Stu Greenberg on June 26, 2021 at 7:44 am

Please apply the OstriGrow before the minoxidil. Otherwise, the minoxidil could block the OstriGrow from getting into the follicles.

  11. Stu Greenberg on July 3, 2021 at 10:44 am

Hi James. I am sorry I missed your reply on June 23. A pharmacodynamic study is not appropriate for OstriGrow, since it never enters the body. All of its action is in the follicle. The antibodies are simply too large to get through the epithelial layer of the skin.

    • Follicle Thought on July 3, 2021 at 3:23 pm

Stu, have you considered any type of penetration enhancer for OstriGrow such as liposomes or any other delivery vehicle?

  12. Stu Greenberg on July 4, 2021 at 6:39 am

I’d welcome a private discussion on this, Follicle Thought.

  14. Anthony D Salazar on July 5, 2021 at 3:20 am

    @Stu Greenberg,

I currently live outside of the United States (Western Europe/Ukraine), is there a way I can set up a full 6-month order to be shipped to an address located in either the European Union or Ukraine?

      @ Anthony D Salazar

I will contact you via email to work something out.

        Thank you 🙂

  16. Satchel on July 8, 2021 at 12:15 pm

    Stu,

Thank you for being active on this site. I’m sure most of us would like to see information on the decreased DHT and enzyme within the follicle. Also interested to see any outcome on the penetration enhancer given your comments on the size of the antibodies.

Is the $19 second bottle code somewhere? In the dashboard? I have a lot of hair but wispy thin. Really hard to cover the scalp with only a couple of sprays. The free bottle might last two weeks….

    • Stu Greenberg on July 10, 2021 at 8:10 am

A penetration enhancer would be of no value, since OstriGrow does not penetrate the skin. Follicles are just folds of the skin. The DHT and 5ar antibodies do not eliminate their targets. They attach to them and make them inactive. We are not able to do testing and measurement in follicles, but in vitro ELISA assays of the antibodies show essentially complete inactivation even at low concentrations of the antibodies.

Each spray contains 0.16 ml of liquid. Five to ten sprays a day would make a bottle last 1 to 2 months. You don’t have to get the hair very wet. Just use the wet hair like a sponge to spread the liquid. Besides getting into follicles that show no hair growth, the liquid should result in thicker hair where it is already growing. Expanding the follicles will let that hair grow thicker.

Since folliclethought.com OstriGrow trial participants get the second bottle at no charge, just send an email to info@ostrigen.com, and we will get it to you.

  17. Stu Greenberg on July 9, 2021 at 7:33 am

In addition to Anthony D Salazar there are nine other folliclethought folks participating. It’s an international group – U.S., Canada, Ireland, UK, and Germany.

    Thanks for joining in.

  18. nobody on July 9, 2021 at 9:07 am

I received 2 bottles today and will start using them tonight. Thank you Stuard for your efforts. I hope that the experiment works and that I maybe achieve a positive effect. I currently only use minoxidl twice a day and will apply it before going to bed as recommended by Stu.
    @admin
I also made a recording and would make it available.

  19. Nobody on July 10, 2021 at 1:43 pm

    Hello Stuart!
I see you take a lot of time answering users’ questions. I think that’s great 🙂 I also have a few questions. I would like to know again whether there are people who use minoxidil and ostrigrow and have positive effects? Are there any photos of users or test persons that were made after 9, 12 or 15 months? And my last question, how big is the database of your users with photos? Thank you in advance and we hope that many users will continue to have success with your product.

    • Stu Greenberg on July 11, 2021 at 4:48 pm

I know that some of our people are using minoxidil as well. I don’t have any definitive reports at this stage. In theory usage of minoxidil and OstriGrow together could be beneficial, because they work so differently. Think of minoxidil as “pushing” by providing more oxygen to the growing hair and OstriGrow “pulling” by opening the follicle up to normal growth.

Sorry. I don’t have any photos of folks that have used it for 9, 12, or 15 months. I have used it personally for over three years. My receding hairline and small bald patch at the vertex were essentially filled in within three months. I am now using OstriGrow two times a week, and that is maintaining the growth.

We currently have photos from 134 users in our data base. I look forward to the folliclethought.com gang expanding it.

Hey guys, brief update, I had a nice conversation with Stu of OstriGrow yesterday. He really emphasized that he welcomes this open discussion from users and wants to see how the OstriGrow product performs in a field study like this.

He also mentioned that there are now 11(?) people who have signed up for free OstriGrow products, will those members please announce themselves here? Full identities are not necessary, but the crowd here (and Stu) would appreciate people participating. Thank you

    • FT Secret Stalker on July 17, 2021 at 8:20 pm

I’m here for the Ostrich Power Sauce!

Admin- I’m a secret stalker of FT. Been reading all your amazing updates for last few years. Ive jumped on this offer so only fair I get fully involved online. The call out was defo called for:) First site I’ve ever joined apart from my kids nursery app. Will happily share some chronic slap head pics but first let me get out of Moscow airport where I’ve been stuck for six hours.

  22. Alan Cashman on July 13, 2021 at 4:37 pm

Hi FT, I have started the trial with Ostrigrow.
I will post my results here as well if you wish.
Thank you for all your hard work and dedication.

    • Follicle Thought on July 13, 2021 at 4:55 pm

      Thanks and welcome Alan!

      • Alan on July 14, 2021 at 9:18 am

Thanks for the welcome FT. I would also like to thank Stu over this website as well. He has answered all my emails and has been incredibly helpful.

  23. Ryan on July 13, 2021 at 11:06 pm

    Hi FT/Stu

Last month I registered for a free bottle on the OstriGrow dashboard after following a link from another forum dedicated to skincare freebies (can’t find it again…)

The free bottle arrived in the mail ~3 weeks ago, thanks for letting me try it out for free!

I took before photos of my temple and hairline regions where I’ve been using it 2 times per day since arrival. Will take again when the first bottle runs out.

I’m using other things for my hair (happy to elaborate if it’s helpful), but nothing that suppresses DHT systemically like finasteride, so hopefully it should still be a realistic real world test as an alternative to that

    • Stu Greenberg on July 14, 2021 at 7:44 am

      Hi Ryan,

I didn’t know you were an FT guy. Another bottle will be on its way to you.

      • Ryan on July 14, 2021 at 2:54 pm

Thanks Stu. To clarify – that was my first comment on here, so I’m not really an “FT guy”

So if you’re trying to keep your deal exclusive to FT members vs randoms then no need to send me the 2nd bottle for free

Especially if you’re still ramping up production or have limited stock, and think you could send it to another person who will give you another set of feedback

I will still post my results after the first bottle, and am likely to simply buy more given the relatively low daily cost to give it a proper 1 year test

Initial results seem like they *might* be promising (minor shedding at application sites, hopefully implying at minimum an effect on hair cycle)

        • Stu Greenberg on July 14, 2021 at 4:53 pm

Didn’t mean to be presumptuous calling you an “FT guy.” I am just referring to the group who will post monthly photos.

Very astute observation about the shedding. That is most likely hair that was unable to shed because of follicle miniaturization holding it more tightly. New hair should be growing (and keep growing) more thickly.

  24. Follicle Thought on July 18, 2021 at 11:28 am

To all users who would like to add their pics:
Please use the website https://imgbb.com/ to upload your photos and either share a link in the comments or send the link to me through the contact page. Toccatta was the first tester to use this site and I think it’s a good option.

Note* you are not required to share your photos until you have your first “after photo” showing your improvement.

  25. NathanZ on July 24, 2021 at 6:33 pm

Hello Stu, I am excited to be part of this trial, and will gladly share before/after photos. I have received my first bottle and have been applying it for 2 weeks now. At what point would it be best to take progress photos, and would it be possible to receive another bottle, if the first doesn’t last long enough to show real improvement?
Thank you so much for all of this, and being involved in the discussion here!

  26. Toccata on July 29, 2021 at 2:02 pm

Here are my results after my first bottle:
    (approximately 10 pumps once daily)

    Crown: https://ibb.co/G0mJFx2
    Crown Close: https://ibb.co/fvRMn6J
    Front: https://ibb.co/DtX3KF0

I have no side effects. I attribute most of the gains to Ostrigrow thus far.

There is some dry, flaking skin visible but it’s from the Kirkland minoxidil. I took this opportunity to get rid of the last of my supply, which has mostly been ineffective and terrible for my scalp. Because of that I could only apply minoxidil once a day or every other day, and microneedle every other week (twice in total). Now I have a better minoxidil for sensitive skin so I’ll be able to apply twice daily, microneedle once weekly and continue applying Ostrigrow.

    • Follicle Thought on July 29, 2021 at 4:05 pm

I really appreciate your sharing Toccata. I will really be looking forward your future photos taken directly after a haircut. Best of luck and we look forward to your updates!

  27. Toccata on July 29, 2021 at 4:54 pm

Thank you FT for hosting this discussion page, Stu for answering our emails and replies, and the entire Ostrigrow team for supplying your product to trial. Obviously a month is far too short a duration. Over the next few months, as my pictures accumulate, I believe we’ll see a clearer image of what Ostrigrow is doing for me. Best of luck to everyone participating.

  28. Rat milk on July 31, 2021 at 7:00 am

Hi guys, I’ve got a couple questions for the people taking ostrigrow! Any of you who were not taking fin and were experiencing shedding, did this slow since applying ostrigrow? Are there any of you who have been on fin previously or stopped taking fin to start using ostrigrow instead, did you guys feel a reduction in hair fall that was similar to what you experienced on fin?
    Thanks!

  29. Anthony D Salazar on August 3, 2021 at 7:08 am

Toccata we’ll be very eager to see your results after your second bottle. Please keep us in the loop.

    Hi, everyone!

Here are my results after 4 weeks (about 6 pumps a day).

    crown: https://ibb.co/0V6zxfP

The hair on the crown grows back a little faster. But I have to agree with toccata, it is too early to make a statement after 4 weeks.
Just like toccata, I have no side effects. I also use minoxidil from aloplexy (twice a day). My wife continues to serve as a neutral observer, she views most hair regrowth treatments as snake oil. But even she says you can see slight improvements.
At this point, thanks again to the admin, for providing the discussion page, to Stuart Greenberg for providing ostrigrow free of charge and for answering the questions quickly. I wish the other participants in this study continued success.

    • Stu Greenberg on August 9, 2021 at 5:44 pm

Four weeks would be early. Thanks to you for sticking with it and thanks to your neutral observer.

We look forward to seeing the next photos.

      Hello, everyone!

Here is the current report. Hair status of the existing hair constant. On the bald spots, new hair grows back as a plum (unfortunately difficult to see in the pictures). Still, you have to wait and see what the next few weeks will turn out to be.

        Hello everyone!
Here are my current pictures. In my opinion, the thickness of the terminal hair is increasing. Hair growth is also a little faster. I can only agree and thank the admin, a professional hair status recording would have to be done by a dermatologist. My wife’s opinion is slightly better. Thank you for your attention.

Thanks nobody. I’m glad to hear your wife mentions a slight improvement.. The hair looks a little thicker and I wonder if it’s also a little longer in the recent photo. In any event, good luck and I look forward to your further progress.

          • Nobody on October 7, 2021 at 12:15 pm

            Hello admin!
Yes, my hair is a little longer, but it grows back faster and thicker. I am trying to make a neutral assessment, but as you mentioned, the professional assessment would have to be taken by a dermatologist. But I was also approached by my hairdresser about the improved hair status. I will continue to keep the community informed

            • Follicle Thought on October 7, 2021 at 2:27 pm

That is actually awesome news about the hairdresser. That’s one of the most authentic forms of feedback you can have.

  32. Lynn Brown on August 11, 2021 at 12:12 pm

Sample bottle arrived yesterday. Will post updates here when they happen. Any of you other guys using Minoxidil topical with this sample also?

    • nobody on August 11, 2021 at 2:44 pm

      hello lynn
I also use minoxidil 2 times.

      I wish you success

    • Stu Greenberg on August 11, 2021 at 3:58 pm

Please use the OstriGrow before you use minoxidil. Otherwise, the minoxidil could block the OstriGrow from getting into the follicles.

  33. Alan on August 12, 2021 at 4:53 pm

    Hi Lynn,
I use Minoxidil once a day at night and wash out in the morning. I use OstriGrow in the morning. Best of luck

  34. Sonic on August 22, 2021 at 7:59 pm

The density on the 3rd set of photos from Tocatta – the front on the head pictures seem to look like a lot less density on July 29th compared to the before picture on July 3rd.

Maybe it’s just a shed so looking forward to see the updated results of all those who trialed Ostri Grow in the next month or two

  35. Franz on September 5, 2021 at 4:05 pm

Can Toccata provide us with a new update?
    I just ordered 2 bottles

  36. FT Secret Stalker on September 5, 2021 at 7:17 pm

    Hey All,

Since 12th July 21 I’ve been applying 4 to 5 sprays of ‘Ostrich Power Sauce’ daily before bed. I’m still bald, but remain hopeful. Hairs on receding area do feel thicker/more bristly to touch (so not fuzzy as before), but no change visually and no suggestion of new growth at this time- hence I haven’t added a follow up pic.

I had a HT in Cyprus pencilled in for Sept 21, but have decided to postpone until Jan/Feb 22, so to give this product a good six month window (hair cycles etc) to see if it makes a noticeable difference. I’ll keep y’all updated and will post a pic if re-growth does progress.

My initial thoughts are that this product could be a good option for those who still have good amount of hair to retain, but perhaps not as effective for those of us who are bald eagles…I hope I’m wrong and I can permanently postpone the HT.

As others have noted, I’ve not experienced any sides. I’m not using any other medication apart from Nizoral shampoo. I ordered the product to the U.K. and arrived pretty quickly. Stu from the company is quick with replies, is approachable and checks in on progress.

I still believe in our feathered friends and hope they make #baldnesshistory

    Cheers

    FT Secret Stalker

    • Stu Greenberg on September 7, 2021 at 11:42 am

A few “bald eagles” have had success, but the odds go down as the follicles lose their ability to grow hair in time. Hope you can beat the odds.

  37. Stu Greenberg on September 9, 2021 at 10:33 am

Hopefully, participants will respond to this. If not, I’ll make email contact to stimulate the response.

    • Follicle Thought on September 9, 2021 at 11:57 am

      No problem ?

  38. Stu Greenberg on September 12, 2021 at 7:11 am

@Amanda Sorry you are not seeing results yet and even sorrier that you are having problems with the ecommerce system we use. We will cancel the monthly subscription you chose. Also, we will send you two more bottles at no charge, so that you can test the product for a few months more.

  39. Stu Greenberg on September 12, 2021 at 1:16 pm

Would you mind giving instructions on how to post photos? I was contacted by one of the FTers that wants to post some one month photos.

    • Follicle Thought on September 12, 2021 at 7:49 pm

No problem. The instructions are posted above on July 18th ^ The first line is bolded, or they can use “Find” tool in their browser to look up the number 18 which will locate the comment.

  40. Anthony D Salazar on September 14, 2021 at 1:06 pm

    Hello,
I refrained from posting my feedback so as to not dissuade other users before reaching the 3 month mark.
Unfortunately, I withdrew half way into my first bottle after the solution aggravated my shedding quite noticeably. I attribute this to the ethyl alcohol in the solution. I cannot say whether the product is effective, but after my experience and lack of feedback here, I am sceptical.
Best of luck to all! I will look forward to experimenting with RIZN as well in the coming months, but will wait for feedback from those on the other page first.

    • Follicle Thought on September 14, 2021 at 1:31 pm

I think it’s a little too early to attribute anything to lack of feedback, people do tend to be complacent when it comes to sharing feedback, though they are quick to ask for free samples. So, we’ll see how others fare in the coming months. Thanks for your feedback Anthony and good luck with your next trial!

    • Stu Greenberg on September 14, 2021 at 2:39 pm

I think you may have given up too quickly, Anthony. I doubt whether the alcohol could have increased your shedding. Actually, the increased shedding is probably a good sign that OstriGrow is working. As the follicles de-miniaturize, the hair growth cycle can return to normal, i.e. shedding old hair to permit new to grow.

  41. Satchel on September 15, 2021 at 12:23 pm

I was waiting for 3 month mark but given recent comments I wanted to post. I am not seeing anything at the 2.5 month mark. Maybe increased shedding. I am not so sure that expecting anything different than a Propecia timeline is reasonable? Most experts say 6-12 months for results for Propecia. The hair growth process is slow. The Ostrigrow has to deactivate the DHT and enzyme, then the hair has to go through some sort of phase. Probably shed. Then stay dormant for weeks. Then grow again.

I know that remaining patient is tough when it appears that you are spraying what looks like water on your head for months with nothing to show for it. I have not tried a product like this before that inhibits DHT and 5-alpha-reductase. I am trusting you Stu that this is legit. I am going at least 6 months.

I would like to know if anyone knows how long it takes for the 5-alpha-reductase enzyme to convert testosterone to DHT (in the follicle). Just curious on this.

    • Stu Greenberg on September 16, 2021 at 6:03 am

I assume you’ve compared photos. We’d really like to see them.

The testosterone would be converted on contact with the enzyme.

We don’t know for sure why it takes some people longer than three months to see results.

We’ve decided to support the FT effort for an extended period by offering to send two more bottles at no charge. Folks outside the U.S. and Canada would need to cover the shipping. I’ll be sending an email to that effect to participating FTers.

  42. Stu Greenberg on September 17, 2021 at 6:46 am

We will send two more bottles of OstriGrow at no charge to participants that are trying OstriGrow. Please confirm your interest in receiving the OstriGrow by contacting us at info@ostrigen.com.

We would really like to see how you are doing, so please post photos.

  43. Anthony D Salazar on September 17, 2021 at 7:29 am

Stu, if your confidence is sufficient to extend the offer by an addition 2 months, then I am willing to give this product another try. In this case, I will post a clear before photo here which should show diffuse thinning.

  44. Toccata on September 23, 2021 at 6:01 pm

    Crown: https://ibb.co/zNk5J6F
    Crown Close: https://ibb.co/0FWZ84n
    Front: https://ibb.co/QCqLW1g

    No better. No worse.

    • Follicle Thought on September 23, 2021 at 9:00 pm

Thank you for your attention to detail in these photos Toccata. I appreciate your objectivity in evaluating the photos. I wonder if Stu has anymore samples for you.

But, I wanted to ask your opinion about the circles I made on your last 2 photos and if you felt there was more terminal hairs present in the last photo? I know the circles are not identical I just did it quickly, but they represent the same area. https://folliclethought.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Final-Back-1024×481-1.jpg

This also goes go to show that for trials of 3 months or shorter, macrophotography with hair counting software is likely necessary to get an objective evaluation of a scalp area. For trials of 5-6 months I think it’s easier to see results, like the people on reddit for example. I doubt anyone else doing this trial will be able to produce as precise photos as you, so I’m thinking that perhaps the format may need to be improved for future attempts at these kind of open evaluations.

  45. Toccata on September 24, 2021 at 2:59 am

Thank you Admin and yes, you are correct about the circled area appearing to have more terminal hair, a family member said as much looking at the picture comparisons but also, “Hmm, hard to say” when standing behind me.

I’m going for one last try at topicals (15% Min / Fin combination with microneedling). I played the wrong hand waiting for Replicel in 2016 and Tsuji in 2020. Now I need to gamble on the likelihood of Stemson otherwise it’s a hairline transplant and a system for the top. I’ll reassess in about a year. Good luck everyone!

    • Follicle Thought on September 24, 2021 at 5:21 pm

Toccata, are you interested in going longer with OstriGrow? Entirely up to you of course, but I think you’re our only hope for a good scalp assessment in this format.

      • Follicle Thought on September 28, 2021 at 9:23 pm

        I guess that’s a no.

  46. Stu Greenberg on September 24, 2021 at 11:08 am

To help participants get to the 5-6 month range, we will send two more bottles of OstriGrow at no charge. Please confirm your interest in receiving the OstriGrow by contacting us at info@ostrigen.com.

We would really like to see how more of you are doing, so please post photos and comments.

Have you taken photos? Sometimes visual inspection is not always telling.

Have you noticed any thickening of existing hair?

  49. Avi on October 18, 2021 at 5:27 am

    Hi Stu,

Yes I took photos but its hard to tell by them.
To my opinion there is no different. I haven’t noticed any thickening of existing hair.

I’ll try to upload the photos this week and let you judge

  50. FT Secret Stalker on October 18, 2021 at 6:21 am

    Hey All,

Just uploaded photo taken today (October 2021). The one I uploaded previous is from July 2021. I’ll let you be the judges on any changes, but I feel positive and going to continue to apply for next 3 months and see what happens. To date the most obvious change is that hair does feel thicker to touch but coverage and regrowth still to be determined.

        • FT Secret Stalker on October 20, 2021 at 5:41 pm

Are you suggesting that bald men all look the same? But just to confirm we are two different people (but could be twins from behind?)

I think the pictures at the very top may have caused the confusion as nobody’s three pics were directly under a pic of my slap-head tagged FT SS

    Hey all,

I’m nearing the end of my second bottle but I have received my other two bottles for the next 3 months or so….
I will post photos when the second bottle finishes, personally my existing hair has thickened and I have seen tiny vellus hairs on my hairline. I was only using four sprays and will increase to cover full scalp.
Thank you to Stu, for his huge effort and thank you FT for your hard work, dedication and amazing website.
No sides thankfully, as I had horrific sides on Saw Palmetto a few years ago.

    • Stu Greenberg on October 18, 2021 at 5:18 pm

Ordered two more bottles of Ostrich Power Sauce as part of trial. Ordered Monday 18th Oct and received today in the U.K. today Wedn 20th Oct! I mean that’s fast….let’s hope the hair re-growth is equally so:)

I’m going to up the sprays to more like 6 all over just before bed, and a little spray (2/3) in the morning after shower. Will keep y’all posted.

    • Follicle Thought on October 20, 2021 at 3:10 pm

Thanks for continuing to share the photos and updates FT Secret Stalker. Your photos are definitely legit, and the more you can try to get the exact angle, lighting, and clarity in the after photos compared to the before photo will be helpful.

  54. FT Secret Stalker on October 20, 2021 at 5:26 pm

Hey Admin! I used my iPhone SE (Yep, the original version), so quality not crisp really, so I’ll make sure I use my misses iPhone 12 pro for future pictures, and will also try get the angle the same.

I should note that one ‘side’ I’ve noticed recently is a slight ache around the crown area and that area feeling a bit itchy. The last time had this type sensation was when I first started loosing my hair. Who knows may be completely unrelated, but has been noticeable. I’ll keep monitoring this.

  55. L Brown on October 24, 2021 at 11:17 am

Hello again, I have uploaded my series of photos from early August via the link below. As I stated before I did see some growth early on and some (but not as much since). And as others here I am not using any other type of treatment. I have thinning front, top, and back but have used this treatment mostly on the front and that is what is shown in the photos. Stu has been great with quick replies to any of my requests. He also has been upfront about the results needing time. I am now almost done with my first bottle and plan to continue this trial for three or four more months and will try to post each month’s photos. And also like others have posted here I am not seeing any bad effects from this treatment, unlike Minoxidil which dries out my scalp and causes dandruff.

  56. Satchel on November 2, 2021 at 9:49 am

Hello All. I am at the four month mark. I have had a lot of shedding. No regrowth or stronger hair as of yet. I did not get any free bottles beyond the first one because I don’t feel comfortable putting photos online.

I had a decent mix of dark terminal hairs and full length wispy colorless hairs. I shed a lot of the dark terminal hairs. I’m sure I shed a bunch of wispy hairs too. As I mentioned in a previous post, I have not tried any DHT blockers previously.

Many things I’ve read regarding Propecia is to be patient and Ostrigrow has a similar method of dealing with the enzyme and DHT. Will keep going for another few months. If I see any signs of the hairs growing back I will post an update.

Hopefully the shed is a good sign. I just wish I knew when to expect these hairs to return (if at all).

  58. FT secret stalker on November 3, 2021 at 5:54 pm

    Two questions for Stu…

Alongside the spraying routine I’m considering applying Jamaican black castor oil couple times a week after using the Ostrich Power sauce..thoughts? My thinking is that it may strengthen and thicken remaking hair (and any new hair coming through)

And secondly, thinking of getting some caffeine shampoo or going back to using DS Labs Revita shampoo (although think tricky to now get in UK), again to thicken and nourish the hair, again any thoughts or advice?

Also good luck to everyone who is commenting on their journey. It’s really interesting to see your updates and pics. Being bald feels like a curse, but having some hope of gaining some hair back feels good…although I retain a healthy skepticism.

    • Stu Greenberg on November 4, 2021 at 6:01 am

      Ostrich Power Sauce?? Hmmm

It should be fine to apply the castor oil and to use the shampoo as long as they are used after you use OstriGrow. You don’t want to interfere with OstriGrow getting into the follicles.

  59. FT Secret Stalker on November 4, 2021 at 4:36 pm

OK I’ll tentatively start and make sure put on after. I may just use the shampoo in the morning by which time the follicles will have had a whole night to absorb.

Yeah I’ve been calling it Ostrich-Power Sauce since day one:) Kinda makes me think of the magic power potion in the Asterix books from my youth!

  62. FT SS on December 2, 2021 at 6:34 pm

    Hello All,

I’ve had bit of a shed which was a bit of an upset. Cause…who knows but likely due to growing cycles. Will post a pic mid December once my hair grow backs after a zero grade hair cut. I’m gunna stop using the castor oil as precaution.

    How’s everyone else getting on?

Stu-any updates on the world wide community using ostrich power-sauce? It’s all been pretty quiet on here, which makes me nervous.

    • Stuart Greenberg on December 3, 2021 at 6:32 am

I know that a group is continuing to use OstriGrow, and I would really like to hear from them. I think that many of them want to use the product for six months. In any event, I’d like to see the photos.

        Hello stu!

As I am approaching the 5th month of application, I will send an updated photo in mid-December.
You won’t see much progress, but I and my observers are also seeing slight improvements. Is there anyone else who sees improvement besides SS? For me, slight improvements are better than continuing to go backwards.

  63. deniz on December 6, 2021 at 6:54 pm

are you using minoxidil nobody? or is this just ostrigrow by its self.

  64. nobody on December 7, 2021 at 8:28 am

I use ostrigrow in the evening and minoxidil in the morning.

    • Alan on December 15, 2021 at 4:28 pm

      Hi all,
I am on my third bottle. I was going to post a few weeks back but like FT SS above I have had a shed mostly on the crown and mid scalp. I also had a dozen or so vellus hairs on my hairline but a few have fallen out and the rest look like their miniaturising. The rest of my hair looks thicker and I have gotten bloodwork done so hoping this is a growth cycle ??

    • Follicle Thought on December 15, 2021 at 6:16 pm

I appreciate you sharing your photos here Alan. I must admit, I can’t really determine the before and afters, as most of the photos do not sync up.

  65. Alan on December 16, 2021 at 11:23 am

    Hi FT,
Sorry for the mis-match. In order downwards, one two and six were taken in July and three four and five were taken this week. It was my wife who noticed my crown. As I previously mentioned I’m hoping that this shed is a positive step. I know my photos are the best but hoping my next ones will be better. Thanks.

    • Follicle Thought on December 16, 2021 at 3:16 pm

Thanks for the feedback Alan. Wishing you well on your trial.

  66. nobody on December 16, 2021 at 1:49 pm

Hi, everyone! Here are the current photos for the 5th month. The condition has improved slightly. The hair has now grown longer again. Terminal hair thickness constant. I will now wait a few more months whether this condition will remain that way or whether it will improve. It would be helpful to see the condition of other test subjects over a longer period of time. What improvement can you still expect?

    https://ibb.co/qmLCYCH

    • Follicle Thought on December 16, 2021 at 3:34 pm

Thanks for the update and photo nobody. I wish we could get some microscope camera photos of your hair to see if there more hairs growing in the areas where you are already growing hair, but I’m just mentioning that hypothetically. Nonetheless, hair growing longer is a positive sign. I was told once by a hair researcher that longer hair growth is a sign of increasing the anagen phase. I will be looking forward to your final or 2nd to final update over the next few months.

  68. Jade on December 21, 2021 at 11:04 am

Hi guys, just wandering how exactly does Ostigrow not penetrate the skin but block 5 alpha reductase and DHT? Usually with topical finasteride the whole idea is to penetrate the skin in order to locally block 5 alpha reductase, and to some extent the finasteride goes systemic which is normal since it’s absorbed by the skin.

So I am wandering how exactly does Ostigrow work if it doesn’t penetrate the skin?

Also do we expect to be able to use Ostigrow as a monotherapy for preventing further hair loss (basically as a substitude for oral finasteride but without the side effects) ?

    • Stuart Greenberg on December 22, 2021 at 8:35 am

5alpha-reductase (5ar) and testosterone are produced in the body and are delivered to the dermal papilla in the hair follicle. The two substances appear both in the dermal papilla cells (intracellular) and outside the cells (extracellular). The enzyme 5ar promotes the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) both intracellularly and extracellularly. However DHT has been formed, it binds to the androgen receptors, which are located in the surface of the dermal papilla cells.

Antibodies in OstriGrow affect this process in three ways: (1) neutralizing DHT that has been formed extracellularly, (2) neutralizing extracellular 5ar to prevent the conversion of extracellular testosterone to DHT, and (3) neutralizing the extracellular testosterone to prevent extracellular conversion or entry into cells, where it could be converted to DHT.

The effect is to reduce the amount of DHT binding with androgen receptors so as to reverse the follicle miniaturization that has taken place. We believe that the time to reverse depends on the proportion of DHT that is being created extracellularly – the higher the ratio of extracelluar, the faster the reversal.

Apologies for getting overly technical, but there could be another positive effect of OstriGrow. The product contains antibodies to the bacteria P. acnes. A recent Korean study (https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0216330) of the microbiome of hair follicles in androgenetic alopecia (AGA) sufferers identified an increased abundance of P. acnes in the miniaturized follicles of AGA sufferers. The authors conclude that “P. acnes may act as an environmental factor for AGA pathogenesis and presents a novel candidate in treating AGA.”

  69. Jade on December 22, 2021 at 9:57 am

Thanks for getting back to me Stuart, so just to summarize do you think this product can be used as a monotherapy in order to prevent further hair loss without side effects (basically a sideless finasteride alternative) ?

  70. Stuart Greenberg on December 22, 2021 at 11:02 am

It certainly can be used as a monotherapy. How well and how quickly it works depends on the individual. OstriGrow’s only function is to deminiaturize follicles to permit hair to grow normally. If the follicle has lost its ability to grow hair, OstriGrow, or any other remedy, can’t help.

I know this will sound like a copout, but OstriGrow will also help resist the eventual miniaturization of follicles that are currently growing hair. It may not regrow all of your hair, but we believe it will help you hold on to the hair you have.

    Thanks for the conversation guys.

Thanks Stuart, have you conducted any clinical studies yet?

If no do you plan on conducting clinical studies in the future?

I think it would be a lot easier to market the product if you get some clinical results that show proof that the treatment works to some extent.

    • Follicle Thought on December 23, 2021 at 11:22 am

I agree that a formal study with microscope cameras would be useful.

    • Stuart Greenberg on December 24, 2021 at 6:39 am

We did two studies with a Philadelphia-area hair transplant surgeon. You can see the most recent at https://www.scirp.org/Journal/paperinformation.aspx?paperid=95756 .

      • Jade on December 26, 2021 at 5:25 am

        That’s very interesting Stuart,

When do you plan to conduct another study with younger patients and a bigger sample size?

It would be great if in the study you also track if the treatment stops further progression of hair loss and compare ir to finasteride.

      • Dennis Gerard on March 29, 2022 at 2:17 pm

        Stu,
Barry Hendler is listed as the MD conducting this study. I live in the Philadelphia area, where Barry Hendler is supposed to practice (Ambler PA). The only Barry Hendler who comes up on Google is a dentist. There is no listing for “Microfollicular hair transplantation”, which is referenced as his practice.

The study is impressive. If you could clarify who and where this guy is, that would be helpful. Thanks.

  73. Stuart Greenberg on December 27, 2021 at 8:28 am

Right now the plan is to conduct a large double-blind trial in the first or second quarter of 2023. The study would definitely be with younger participants, and will include a lot more women. We will add hair thickness measurements along with the density measurements. The trial period will extend from 3 months to 9 months. Although not definite, we will look at coordination with minoxidil treatments.

      Hi Stu,
Just wondering would Ostrigrow work with other stimulants like Stemoxydine.
      Thank you.

    HNY to everyone

I’ve upload latest pictures under a S.S FT tag. tbh I haven’t gained any noticeable hair growth in bald areas and also think shred few months ago taken me back further. Perhaps Ostrich Power Sauce is holding back the tide so I’m not completely a cue ball, but hard to tell.

I’m on last bottle of trial stock, and currently debating to purchase more bottles.

I’m interested to hear more about the thinking behind coordination with minoxidil…

    Thanks for the update.

Here is an image showing your current photo juxtaposed with the one you took in September. It looks like the hair is more dense on the crown. It’s hard to see progress in the front, but you might want to try spraying a bit more here.

The image also suggest that hairs are growing thicker. If that is the case, it is a good sign that your follicles are expanding.

Yes I should have said the thickness that I felt a couple of weeks of using has remained and to touch the top feels thick, although coverage thin.

*also I should have tagged as FT SS (put wrong way round)

Hi, everyone! Here is my picture after the 6th month of treatment. I continue to let the hair grow longer, hair status remains constant. As the admin mentioned, you would now have to take pictures with the digital microscope. Keep using ostrigrow at night and minoxidil in the morning. What about the other test subject

    • Follicle Thought on January 14, 2022 at 3:39 pm

Thanks so much for all the photos nobody. I’m wondering if you plan to get your hair buzzed similar to the first photo for just a slight improved comparison? Whenever you get your next haircut could be a good time for another photo.

  78. Follicle Thought on January 14, 2022 at 4:30 pm

Thanks to all of the test subjects who provided feedback and special thanks for all the photos.

It seems as though this test period is coming to a close. Some users have reported positive anecdotes in regards to their hair from use of Ostrigrow, however I believe we cannot say there is a clear improvement in the photos.

All are welcome to share additional feedback at this time.

  79. FT Secret Stalker on January 27, 2022 at 5:37 pm

I’m going to stick with another three months of use at the very least. My sense is that the ostrich power sauce is maintaining the limited hair I have left on top so not a completely bald eagle. I’m disappointed that no noticeable growth, but I’m not sure there will be anything in the next five years that will give me back my hair. My plan is to get a HT shortly and I’m hoping that this spray will be a non-toxic alternative to the other potions in seeking maintenance.

Good luck to everyone! If there is a noticeable growth I’ll sure to post!

Admin thanks again for this great site and setting this chat up. Stu thanks for the free product and hope future scientific research gets you one step closer to the solving this curse.

Glad to be of service, thank you FT SS

  80. Stu Greenberg on January 28, 2022 at 6:40 am

Thanks for the update FT Secret Stalker. It’s disappointing that we can deminiaturize follicles, but we can’t make hair grow in them once the ability to grow hair atrophies.

I think that hair transplant is a wise course. We are confident that OstriGrow will help you maintain your current hair plus the transplanted hair.

Please keep us informed on your progress.

  81. Stu Greenberg on February 28, 2022 at 6:59 am

I get a lot of questions about OstriGrow safety and side effects. Let me offer an explanation of why OstriGrow can’t cause any side effects.

Most substances used to counter the hair loss of AGA have side effects, some very serious. No side effects have been reported for OstriGrow, and there is a very good reason for that. To produce a side effect a substance must get into the bloodstream. The active ingredients in OstriGrow, antibodies, cannot get into the bloodstream. The antibodies are just too large to pass through the walls of the capillaries serving the scalp.
Capillary walls consist of a single layer of cells that are joined by what is known as “tight junctions.” These junctions consist of a lattice of proteins that allow only small substances to pass through. This is effectively a net that will only allow small molecules to pass through. The OstriGrow antibodies, with a molecular weight of 190,000 g/mol, are much too large to pass through.
In contrast, the molecules of other well-known substances are very small and pass easily into capillaries, for example:

    Minoxidil – 209 g/mol
    Finasteride – 373 g/mol
    Dutasteride – 529 g/mol
    RI-58841 – 369 g/mol

A number of individuals have reported no change in the blood levels of DHT while using OstriGrow, verifying that the OstriGrow antibodies are not passing into the bloodstream.

    • Follicle Thought on March 7, 2022 at 4:44 pm

Thank you nobody for your final round of photos. The July 04 2021 photo seems to have more hair than the July 24 2021 photo, do you know what I mean? Do you have an idea what caused that?

      • nobody on March 8, 2022 at 10:42 am

        Hello admin!

The time of day and once with flashing light and once without. All of the other shots were taken with a flash. A professional micro camera like revivv would be an advantage. 🙂

        • Follicle Thought on March 8, 2022 at 4:40 pm

I see, thanks. It seems like the lack of flash on July 24 made the hair seem lesser.
