Stemore Updated Website & Therapies

Stemore of Korea has recently updated their website with exciting new information.

Asia’s #1 Hair Loss Cure Research Company

I remember reading that Stemore hoped to one day become Asia’s leading company in the field of hair loss cure research and development. I think after reading this article you may agree that they have already achieved that goal. During a recent visit to the Stemore website I noticed expanded information and new therapies being developed. Their new Platform Technology page gives a good overview of the multiple approaches that Stemore is delving into to bring new therapies to market.

Above, we see the second platform technology listed on Stemore’s website, a repertoire of adipose-derived stem cell therapies. Stemore has taken the innovative approach of genetically modifying adipose stem cells by over-expressing certain hair growth-promoting genes within them. For example, Stemore uses the genes SOX2, β-catenin, and PDGF- A to create a so-called tfASC. A tfASC is an adipose stem cell which behaves more like a dermal papilla cell. They also have created an adipose stem cell with an over-expressed FOXQ1 gene.

Likely the biggest development in the new website layout, Stemore is apparently joining the field of “hair cloning” companies. The above diagram displays the proverbial process of taking a bald scalp and utilizing 3D cultured hair organoids to restore a full head of hair.

The pipeline page of the Stemore website is mostly in the Korean language and not easily translated. We can be sure, though, that the pipeline includes a dermal papilla cell therapy, a genetically modified adipose stem cell therapy, a Ripk1 Inhibitor, a PGD2r inhibitor, and a NRF2 activator, for now. I hope to share more information on Stemore’s trial schedule and development plans in the near future.

Hair Regrowth Research Collaborations

Stemore has quietly been the most active company this year in terms of research and development collaborations. A total of four press releases announcing strategic collaborations have already appeared on Stemore’s site this year; you love to see it. Below are details on what Stemore has been up to so far in 2020.

  • Partnered with GPS Life Sciences for the research and development of microbiome based materials to control scalp flora and prevent hair loss.
  • Teamed up with Excelserafutics to develop hair follicle cell-specific culture media technology.
  • Acquired intellectual property from Kyungpook National University and Professor Seong-Young-Kwan related to hair loss/hair growth drugs. Apparently the lead drug candidate is a PGD2r antagonist. Professor Kwan also published a peer-reviewed study last month on KY19382, a novel Wnt activator.?
  • One of the most interesting developments, Stemore has joined forces with Paros IBT, a company specializing in the use of artificial intelligence for drug discovery. These type of research programs can shave years off of the drug discovery process and identify molecules with highly specific functions and little chance of side effects.

Well done, Stemore, you’ve made a believer out of me. I certainly look forward to hearing more about Stemore’s cell therapy clinical trials and drug programs over the next 12 months. For now, I’ll end this news story with a quote from Stemore Founder and CEO Jong Hyuk Sung:

“Researches conducted at university laboratories often becomes discarded, instead of being put to practical use due to realistic problems. Thus in Stemore, rather than just researching, we wanted to contribute to the happiness of the people by making the research results into practical use.Through Stemore, I would like to continue with the scientific activities that contribute positively to the well-being of the people.”

Right on, Stemore.

Thanks for all of the support everyone. What do you think of the initiative that Stemore has shown this year?

    • D1 on July 29, 2020 at 2:03 am

Why cant they trail the stem cell stuff in Japan for speed?

      • Follicle Thought on July 29, 2020 at 10:14 am

This is always an option later on D1, but it would require a partner. It does take money and resources to set up shop in a foreign country, even if close by. Maybe they will get things going in Korea and consider their plans after initial trials.

  2. Ak on July 27, 2020 at 11:45 pm

Thanks for sharing admin, its always great to see more and more companies coming up with different technologies instead of following the others….some might fail and some definitely have to succeed…!

  3. MRKA on July 27, 2020 at 11:56 pm

Great news. I remember that they also planned to release a functional cosmetic by the end of this year. That was mentioned in an FT article in December last year. Perhaps a product that gets us through until these products are available.

Hopefully better than NGF-574H from Celino.

    • TwentyAndBalding on July 28, 2020 at 9:27 am

Any new company focusing on cloning is good news.

  4. John Doe on July 28, 2020 at 5:01 am

Thanks for the news. … Unfortunately the Pipeline shows all drugs will finish Phase 2 not before 2024 / 2025. With Phase 3 and FDA Registration and the typical delays in the Hair Industry we talk about another 8 years or so ending up in 2028 / 2029 coming to market. (and then they maybe show 8 Hairs grow in 6 months)
So the big question still is will they have something quicker as a working Cosmeceutical which is not shown in the Pipeline?

    • Roey on July 28, 2020 at 6:37 am

In those haircloning bussnines as long as the product will be out its good.

Cuz u can would able to fully recover .

The problem is they never reach the clinical trails , there always some problem that prevent it to accure

      • jan.miedza on July 28, 2020 at 2:36 pm

        Roey true…

    • Follicle Thought on July 28, 2020 at 9:31 am

I don’t agree John that after all of the advanced work Stemore is doing in DP cell culturing and ASC culturing that their technology will end up with such numbers as you suggested. We don’t know how it will end up, but the whole purpose of their research is to get the real results. The company has been working the past 5 years or so on maintaining inductivity and improving outcomes (e.g. adding the right genes to adipose stem cells to achieve a greater hair growth effect)

      • John Doe on July 28, 2020 at 11:55 am

@Admin lets hope they show good results. But for the Pipeline its still many years away. … Do you know of Cosmeceuticals they work on?
Actually what we readers want to know is what will come out in the next 12-24 months. We just had too many stories in the last years which all said breakthrought and 5 years away.

        • Follicle Thought on July 28, 2020 at 1:09 pm

I’ll follow up on the cosmeceuticals in the near future, however, the cell therapies have much more promise. I understand the desire for more near term breakthroughs, we all want to see it, but we have to accept the news that is available, thanks.

      • Dimitri on July 28, 2020 at 1:57 pm

Very nice to hear stemore is continuing forward. I also would like to hear of their cosmetic products that were suppose to be released this year. Also I was curious to hear of an update about applied biology and their shampoo. Great work again admin!

        • Follicle Thought on July 28, 2020 at 2:04 pm

Thanks Dimitri, I believe there was an Applied Biology update within the past 2 months or so on the Updates page. Dr. Goren told me he still anticipates the product to come to market this year, that’s all for now.

  5. Roey on July 28, 2020 at 6:12 am

I really hope it wont turn around like tsuji.

Tsuji actually was the most close to the cure and as always when its time for clinical trails they disapear .

    • jan.miedza on July 28, 2020 at 2:23 pm

so what exactly with tsuji? they surrended ? can’t find a way to clone one hair 10,000 times?

      • Follicle Thought on July 28, 2020 at 2:34 pm

Dr. Tsuji and Organ Technologies are working privately on their technology and no one knows the status except for them.

        • Yoda on July 28, 2020 at 5:05 pm

Admin, ask them for an update! Just kidding;-)

          • Follicle Thought on July 28, 2020 at 6:19 pm

            😉

    • Follicle Thought on July 28, 2020 at 2:38 pm

Roey, Tsuji and Organ Technologies did not disappear, they are quiet sure, but they have a lucrative technology on their hands which could be a world’s first. Being quiet is their option.

      • Ben on July 28, 2020 at 7:44 pm

You are absolutely right, Admin. Though the announcements on their website are bold. It is certain that OrganTech is well financed and their science is obviously solid, backed by research papers. I think they simply don’t need PR at the moment. Kyocera is another big advantage.

Your headline is quite provocative, I am sure that was your intention. Given the information we have, OrganTech is my personal number one.

I am sure cloning will happen at one point, too many companies pursue the technology, the proof of concept is there. And the race is on. Still, it’s a new approach, so there’s always a chance of failure.

Hairclone, Stemson, OrganTech, Stemore are on track. TissUse/J.Hewitt is uncertain but not impossible. Koehler’s Lab as the newest contender. Hell, that’s 6 companies working on cloning technologies!

Keep up the good work, Admin. Maybe you could get an update from Stemson – nothing new from them in a long time. Anyhow, thanks for the uplifting news.

        • Follicle Thought on July 28, 2020 at 9:15 pm

          Thanks Ben

        • Steve on July 29, 2020 at 3:37 am

I share your optimism Ben. more and more companies are working on true permanent solutions to the problem. I don’t have children yet, but I am convinced that by the time I do and they grow up, balding will be a choice they can make for themselves.

I just wish follica and other treatments would hurry up so I dont keep losing what I have. I would love to have a stable hair count and wait for future treatments

  6. MT on July 28, 2020 at 3:14 pm

    Hi everyone,

Admin thanks again for your article and your work as always for the community ! It’s a good news to have an other company ! I also received an e-mail from organ technologies, if they certainly have a delay, they are waiting for an approval from the japanese authorities for the trial !

    • Roey on July 28, 2020 at 7:02 pm

Please show us the email i can trust ppl on the internet anymore.

Please show us pic of the email screenshot.

Its really big news if its real.

  7. Baumer on July 28, 2020 at 6:03 pm

@MT we’d love to read that e-mail uploaded on imgur and posted here!!!

    • Ben on July 30, 2020 at 1:01 pm

Very interesting and very promising. Would be the ultimate tackle.

I think this is more or less what Exicure is working on. That project is funded by Allergan with a staggering 25 million dollars.

  8. hank on July 29, 2020 at 6:10 am

According to my understanding, hair follicles never really die but instead miniaturize to the point where hairs they grow are so small that they cannot be seen with plain eye. Do you know if there are remedies in development which would attempt to “restart” miniaturized follicles so that they would start growing terminal hair again? In my opinion this would count as actual “cure” to hair loss: no transplants, just original hair follicles growing hair again.

    • Trevor on July 29, 2020 at 10:59 am

Hi, what about Exsomes? Admin, please share your knowledge on Exsomes for hair growth. Thanks.

      • Follicle Thought on July 29, 2020 at 12:22 pm

HI Trevor, good to see you. I will create an article on exosomes when I have some extra time. For now: exosomes are an interesting therapeutic area for hair growth and other uses. There has been little anecdotal evidence shared so far on their efficacy and the cost is considerably higher than PRP. So, if money is no object and you feel like giving them a shot, go for it. They are in the realm of “hit or miss” PRP.

    • Follicle Thought on July 29, 2020 at 9:41 pm

You’ve described a great concept hank which is the actual Holy Grail of hair regeneration. I don’t know of anything in development which is aiming at this just yet, but maybe the combination of a few therapies could equal the result. Someday the treatment you describe will exist, but it will likely be a while.

  9. MT on July 29, 2020 at 3:04 pm

    Hi everyone,

I hope there was no misunderstanding about the content of the email I received (Kyocera) :

“The plan scheduled to start in 2020 but research is delayed.
Drug approval Japan is still expected.

We will contact you again after the clinical trial results at the university hospital.

    Best regards!”

What I wanted to say is that the clinical trial project is still ongoing and has not been dropped, contrary to what some may have said about the fact that Tsuji is no longer the director.

    • Follicle Thought on July 29, 2020 at 9:48 pm

Here’s MT’s email which he permitted to be shared. It’s actually from Kyocera Email screen shot

      • Ben on July 30, 2020 at 7:48 am

Sorry but that e-mail is ridiculous and doesn‘t look trustworthy at all.

        • Follicle Thought on July 30, 2020 at 9:16 am

Ben, sorry, but it’d be absurd for MT to fabricate an email which doesn’t say anything too important in it. What’s the point? He didn’t even know for sure that I would ask to share it when he sent it to me. I realize the typo in the word hair looks funny, but the grammar is how some Asian people speak, it’s broken English as it’s not their first language.

  10. Ben on July 29, 2020 at 6:26 pm

I just reviewed Stemore‘s website, unfortunately much of the content is not available in English.

But it is very obvious that the founder of the company is very smart competitive, developing 5 arms at the same time is rather courageous. His alliances are also strong and important, he clearly has a plan.

    Hats off. Good for us.

any updates on PTD-DBM ? thanks admin

    • Follicle Thought on August 4, 2020 at 9:58 pm

Loui, there will be a small molecule mimetic developed in place of PTD-DBM. The molecule functions like PTD. Dr. Choi is no longer developing PTD-DBM.

I’ll put that article in an Update envy, to be honest I am not overly excited about it. It seems like a smaller piece of the puzzle to my understanding. Could always be better than expected, though.

Thank you for the good job you do.

Does anyone have some good study about serotonin and androgenic alopecia?

I personally feel, based on extensive personal experience that prolonged times of stress and anxiety can trigger and or accelerate the course of mpb. Therefore proper continuous meditation, scalp massage and paroxetine in dosages even lower than the minimum used for major depression and chronic anxiety could be very strong complements to the classic three.

I am also pretty convinced that it has good connection with mother – son poor affective relationship, but this has to do with the pathogenesis and not the treatments.

Any research on the ssri as complements for the cure of mpb is welcome.

            Thank you

  22. Radula on August 5, 2020 at 10:41 pm

    Good Evening Admin,

First of all just want to say how appreciative I am for all the news. We are all in this together.

I wanted to inquire about a company called Mane Biotech. Have you been in contact with them? I heard they were going to try and launch a test in July/August. Do you know anything about their device? Is it similar to the University of Wisconsin hat?

    This is their website

    https://www.manebiotech.com

Anyways thanks again for the hard work.

    Cheers

    • TwentyAndBalding on August 6, 2020 at 8:29 am

Admin is aware of that company. I tipped him of about them a few months ago, but they don’t want media attention until they get their patents sorted. As for how effective their product will be – we wont know until the clinical trial results.

      • Follicle Thought on August 6, 2020 at 9:26 am

        Thanks Twenty

    • Follicle Thought on August 6, 2020 at 9:23 am

Hi Radula, thanks for the kind words. I have been in contact with Mane Biotech actually and their product seems similar to the Wisconsin hat. The founder actually told me that he prefers that I do not write anything about their company for now because they are in the process of receiving patents I believe. I will say I find their strategy a bit odd, he says they want to stay under the radar, and yet they have a website and Twitter page. Anyways, we’ll see how they pan out in the next 8 mos. Thanks for sharing.

  23. Jamesjay on August 6, 2020 at 7:10 am

    Hi admin,
Thanks so much for all your dedication and thoroughness.
I was just wondering what you thought of Kerastem advanced hair therapy- it seems to be effective from what I’ve read and I don’t know whether you’ve written an article on it (you probably have but I just can’t find it)
But yes- do you think it’s a viable option for the early stages of hair loss?

    • Follicle Thought on August 6, 2020 at 9:24 am

Jamesjay, thanks very much for the support and kind words. I have not seen impressive data from Kerstem which involves liposuction, hence it does not seem to be an appealing treatment. The results I’ve seen are similar to minoxidil or PRP.

      • Jamesjay on August 6, 2020 at 11:19 am

Thanks for replying so quickly! Ah I see, but wouldn’t it be worth it if an all-natural process achieves minoxidil-like results without you having to go through the process again and again on a day by day routine?

        • Follicle Thought on August 6, 2020 at 11:28 am

You’re welcome, thanks. To your question I would suggest one would have to learn what the procedure entails and review the results examples available from the providers, and then make that decision for themselves.

  24. John Doe on August 6, 2020 at 1:04 pm

Mane Biotech could be quite interesting. The Investor website says they currently do a small trial and will launch the “market redy device”.

Interesting, thanks for sharing thiningontop. It seems like this research has a ways to go before being developed into a startup.
