Follicum To Present Phase 2 Data In October 2018

According to its latest news update, Follicum will present top-line data from its recent phase 2a trial by the end of the month.

The phase 2a trial for Follicum’s hair growth candidate FOL-005 was completed at sites in Hamburg and Berlin, Germany at the end of August this year. The study comprised 60 patients (assumed to be both men and women) who received 3 scalp injections of the FOL-005 peptide over the course of 3 months. Now, within a matter of weeks we will receive the results of this study which will be enlightening to the hair growth industry. It has been about 2.5 years since we have received phase 2 results from a hair growth drug. The most recent prior to Follicum was Samumed’s phase 2 results in March 2016.

Look for Follicum’s phase 2a trial results announcing safety and efficacy to be reported here on Follicle Thought around the last week of October 2018.

Damn. This sounds more promissing than Trinov. It’s from the germans afterall.

    • Follicle Thought on October 4, 2018 at 4:07 pm

      Swedes actually

  3. Welsh Dragon on October 4, 2018 at 3:49 pm

Personally I’m unlikely to try Trinov but as soon as the news came out I felt that it could create a chain reaction. This time next year there will be at least another 2 treatment options and this could be one of them.

    • Le Figaro on October 5, 2018 at 4:37 pm

Erm no…they have to complete a phase 3 that could take years

  4. Hairguy on October 6, 2018 at 12:41 pm

I think follicum expect to release in 2021 if all goes well.

  5. David Leathers on October 6, 2018 at 1:28 pm

Thank you for the good news. Is there a chance we hear from Follicum by the end of month and Histogen by the end of the year? I believe there is potential news on collaboration as well as Ph3 in Mexico and/or Ph2 in uS.

    • Follicle Thought on October 7, 2018 at 5:39 pm

I’d say there is a chance, but that depends on Histogen and how fast their trial progresses.

When do you plan on making a post about the Shiseido/Replicel comment you made in another post?

    • Follicle Thought on October 7, 2018 at 5:38 pm

Very soon, within next 3-4 days. Wednesday.

  8. Kiki on October 7, 2018 at 9:15 am

this is cool – this is more drama than we’ve seen in years but it looks like Shiseido totally dipped off the dar.

  9. Kira on October 7, 2018 at 11:43 pm

@admin, the comments that you are going to make regarding Replicel / Shiseido, is it regarding the BioJapan conference in Japan ?

    • Kiki on October 10, 2018 at 8:31 am

They are speaking at Bio Japan tomorrow 10/11. I wonder if it’s going to be a relevant update

  10. Ahmed bekeer on October 9, 2018 at 12:09 am

Sandalore and caffeine and minoxidil topical

    • Follicle Thought on October 9, 2018 at 1:26 am

      Sounds pretty useful

      • Cano on October 9, 2018 at 3:44 pm

Replicel MUST be the answer. Taking hair cells, multiplying them by millions, injecting them back. That has to be key knowing that the body is cellular. Man an update would be beautiful.

  11. Kyle on October 10, 2018 at 1:04 pm

Their release says: “Following up with trials on human tissue (in-vitro) showed an inhibition of hair growth with high doses of FOL-005. Follow-up trials with human tissue transplanted on mice confirmed these results. All trials involving live animals have been carried out according to the highest standards of ethics.”

Wouldn’t we be looking for the opposite of inhibition if growth?

    • Follicle Thought on October 10, 2018 at 3:05 pm

Right, their peptide has shown the ability to do both. But in their trial on human thighs it improved hair growth. So they are observing that mechanism now on scalps. It’s a process of development.

So nothing came from Biojapan regarding rch-01 and the latest non-provable news is the data will be available in the 1Q of 2019?

    • Follicle Thought on October 12, 2018 at 8:47 pm

The news will be proven one way or the other in time, yes?

  16. Piotr on October 13, 2018 at 12:46 pm

    Hi Follicle,
Do you know how long it can make to get the drug avaiable in the best and worst scenario?

    • Follicle Thought on October 13, 2018 at 3:43 pm

2021 is a likely scenario if things go well.

  17. Follicle Thought on October 13, 2018 at 4:16 pm

    Re KMCE:
What I can say regarding the update it is from an industry source who knows what they are talking about.

I have been very clear all along about why RCH-01 was ESTIMATED to come out in 2018 (I always make it clear these are estimates and I never promise any release dates, that is for companies to do). Things are subject to change. My apologies that you have some scheduling difficulties.

  18. Michael on October 15, 2018 at 1:05 am

    Okay.

Round down what you earn, round up what things will cost.

Assume things wont always go perfectly or according to an arbitrary schedule.

This sucks hard, but we’re all dealing with it.

The Admin reached out to me out of comcern bc of the nature some of comments.

They wanted to make sure I was okay, and it means a lot to me.

Let me just say, FT is here to help.

And I just wanted to say thanks

    So go easy.

    • Piotr on October 15, 2018 at 6:45 pm

      This is good point, Thanks
      In refer to older article.
I like to know if one of the things that Follicle can do is to right an e-mail or letter in our as a community (people who are visiting FT website) name to the first four companies to let them know that they are lots of people who are waiting for their products, and a cure for hair regrouth and hair loos and ask them to give as the update as soon as they can, and release their products asap.

      • Follicle Thought on October 15, 2018 at 10:52 pm

Piotr, if I thought that would motivate the companies to do something different than what they are already doing as businesses attempting to enter the super-lucrative market of hair growth treatments and speed-up the release of their products, I would. However, I am confident they already understand that sentiment.

One thing I have recommended in the past is for readers themselves to send short, thankful emails to these companies expressing your gratitude for what the company is doing to create a hair growth treatment and that it means a lot to you. Asking nothing in return (such as release date or update on progress.)

Imagine how it would feel for you at your job to receive 4 emails throughout a day telling you how good of a job you are doing and how appreciated you are, versus receiving 4 emails a day asking for an update on your progress and expecting a response. Do you think that would affect your overall productivity and mindset?

        • Piotr on October 18, 2018 at 11:52 am

I asked to do this be cause I like to be shure that the people who are working on this products will know how this is important to us, and how this is influencing our lifes. At the moment I immagine thus people just doing thei regular job (developing the product for another company), which seams to be not such important be cause is only for the apparence of the people (hair) and not fot thei healty.

          • Follicle Thought on October 18, 2018 at 4:53 pm

Piotr, I understand what you meant and your message was great. Again, I do believe that companies working on hair loss/growth drugs do understand how it can affect people. I think they would appreciate hearing the encouragement and gratitude from people awaiting their products and I think it would be great if you sent a note to some of them.

    • Follicle Thought on October 15, 2018 at 11:01 pm

      Thank you, Michael

Checking the website of Folicum, it is not clear for me if this FOL-005 is able to help regrowing the lost hair for men, who are suffering from androgenic alopecia (genetic baldness)?

It seems a good news from Lee Buckler :”if positive clinical data is announced in the coming weeks from the Japanese clinical study”, so we will hopefully get some infos in some weeks if RCH-001 works or not…

  20. Hope on October 26, 2018 at 7:01 am

No update from Follicum yet? We’re approaching the end of the month. My hope is that something comes out soon like Trinov to buy us more time until all the other new generation treatments are released.

Do you think we’ll have a viable treatment and/ or cure available to us in the next 3-4 years? I thought Histogen was in phase 3 for men shouldn’t that be completed soon?
? Thank you for this website

    • Follicle Thought on October 26, 2018 at 5:03 pm

Follicum update comes soon. I think things are getting better all the time. 🙂

  21. Alex on October 31, 2018 at 9:59 am

I just gave them a phone a call and asked whether or not they were going to release the Phase IIa results today like they promised but all I got in response was ”Sorry. We’re a private company. We can’t talk.”
