New Beauty Hair Solutions Article Tidbits

New Beauty, a magazine covering the female aesthetics industry, has released a print article featuring “hair loss solutions.” The article contains quotes and information from Dr. George Cotsarelis, RiverTown Therapeutics, and Histogen. The Brotzu Lotion is also mentioned, though with information already known.

Setipiprant For Females

In the article, Dr. Cotsarelis shares that his lab is currently testing for elevated levels of PGD2 in female scalps with hair loss. He says if women with hair loss have elevated scalp levels of PGD2, such as men do, that a drug like Setipiprant would also be applicable to women.

RiverTown Hits All Angles

David Weinstein MD, PhD of RiverTown Therapeutics is featured in the piece to discuss his RT1640 formula which he hopes will be on the market in 2022 by prescription. The article also mentions RT1640 is being developed as a lotion for scalp hair growth and as a cream to reverse overplucked eyebrows.

Weinstein describes the process of hair regeneration involving: the recruitment of stem cells, their differentiation and incorporation into the growing hair shaft, the deposit of melanin, and the support of hair by means of growth factors. He says “RT1640 is different because it hits most of these targets to initiate the process, and biology takes over from there.”

Insight Into Histogen

The article also gives some simple, yet meaningful, insight into Histogen’s HSC injectable hair growth therapy. Histogen has theorized that injections should be given 6 weeks apart in order to ensure the active ingredients are reaching all follicles while they are in “anagen” or growth phase. If the injections are not spaced out for this length it is possible that some follicles would still be in a dormant state and not receptive to the injections. Additionally, the writeup states that “up to four sessions (of HSC) may be needed.” After several clinical trials completed, it appears Histogen has narrowed down the logistics for optimizing its intriguing therapy for hair growth.

The article says that Brother lotion is under going trials and will be available in a few years. I thought it was coming out around October in Europe? Has something changed?

It is possible they know something credible, however my guess was that the writer was just paraphrasing and making a guess.

RT1640 availability in 2022 seems to be unrealistic. They are not even in phase 1, dont they ?
FDA takes at least 5 years to reach the market, right ?

First I’d say that David knows what he’s talking about. Second, I believe he plans to start the formula at phase 2 because of all the ingredients have been in FDA trials before, especially 2 of the ingredients being FDA approved. Please keep up good hope and enjoy the site 🙂
