New Hair Growth Patent With Results Photos – Nichinichi Pharmaceutical Co.

An interesting new hair growth patent has surfaced online from the Nichinichi Pharmaceutical Company of Japan.

NF-1011 – Enterococcus faecalis

Nichinichi Pharmaceutical Co. specializes in the research and development of lactic acid bacteria strains for therapeutic uses. The current flagship product of the company is called FK-23, a proprietary formulation of the Enterococcus faecalis bacteria. According to Nichinichi Pharmaceutical’s website, Enterococcus faecalis is a component of the intestinal flora found in healthy young adults. The company has patented a heat-treated version of Enterococcus faecalis (FK-23) which is claimed to possess various immune-activating properties. Nichinichi has filed multiple patents using FK-23 to reduce tumor size, treat hepatitis C, and prevent infectious diseases. Recently, they have published a patent for a different type of indication.

On December 23, 2021, the patent “EXTERNAL AGENT FOR HAIR GROWTH OR HAIR LOSS PREVENTION” was awarded to the Nichinichi Pharmaceutical Co. This patent involves the topical use of a strain of Enterococcus faecalis known as NF-1011, which upon further review is the same strain as FK-23, which is simply a trademark name. Finding new patents published for hair growth are typically a pedestrian experience, as they are quite common among cosmetic companies or biotech companies who file them and may never further develop the technology. However, this patent stood out due to its inclusion of several sets of human results photos. See images from the patent below and click to enlarge in a new tab.

Figure 2. Nichinichi Pharmaceutical Co.

Figure 3. Nichinichi Pharmaceutical Co.

(Note: these images were sourced from an earlier version of the same patent in which the photos were uploaded more clearly.)

The patent version published in December 2021 includes English descriptions of the ages and gender of the subjects in Figures 2 and 3. The subject in Figure 1 is a 39 year old male who appears to have gained a remarkable regrowth in his crown after roughly one month of use. But, we must ask, is a result like that even possible? Due to the controversial nature and limited quality of these photos I won’t speculate any further. This patent publication is certainly interesting enough to share and review. Let’s open the discussion in the comment section.

It will be interesting to see if Nichinichi has plans to develop this therapy for hair growth, or if they are simply just protecting the IP.

Hi admin!! Thank you for your work. Hair tonics now appear on the company’s website. But I don’t know if they contain that ingredient

      • Follicle Thought on April 1, 2022 at 9:18 am

Inf@me, weeks after I published the article I actually got in contact with Nichinichi pharma and it turns out that the hair tonic on their site actually is the same ingredient. When I wrote the article I did not know the product was on the market. I know they have plans to launch the product in the US and I have asked to see further data before I mentioned them again. It seems hard to believe that the product is able to produce the result in the patent photos, but I am simply looking to receive more data from the company and staying neutral and will provide an update in these comments if/when I hear more about the developments.

Just when we thought all hope was lost, a new player comes in. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves and let’s not be pessimistic either. This is a banging start to 2022 for sure. Let’s hope that a cure to hairloss is the highlight of 2022 and we see incredible things coming our way!

follicle thought on Nichinichi NF -1011really?

  4. Matthew Grady on January 1, 2022 at 1:39 pm

Interesting, however, unlike Charlie Brown, I’m not going for the football just yet. Sorry Lucy, not this time.

    • Follicle Thought on January 1, 2022 at 1:52 pm

That is a useful strategy Matthew.

  5. John Doe on January 1, 2022 at 1:43 pm

Thanks Admin and Happy new Year! … the story sounds interesting. They already used it on humans. Could you please reach out to them to get details?

    • Follicle Thought on January 1, 2022 at 1:52 pm

Have reached out to someone from their team already, no response yet, and can try another option soon.

  6. nobody on January 1, 2022 at 1:55 pm

    Thanks admin.
Another treatment that might help us 🙂

    • Follicle Thought on January 1, 2022 at 2:12 pm

      Thanks nobody!

  7. Brian on January 1, 2022 at 2:03 pm

Happy New Year! Any idea when the product would be available to purchase?

    • Follicle Thought on January 1, 2022 at 2:12 pm

Happy New Year Brian and thank you. At this point, there’s no further information available whether this would be developed as a drug over many years or if it could be potentially classified as a topical cosmetic which could come out much sooner. We hope to hear some info from the company about this.

  8. Jim on January 1, 2022 at 2:37 pm

Looks like a good start to the New Year.
Those grainy b&w pictures show some excellent results.

    Fingers crossed.

    • Emma on January 1, 2022 at 2:39 pm

They do, but why black and white ?

  9. Shery on January 1, 2022 at 2:43 pm

    Happy new Year dear admin

Is it a drug like finistrade ?
Or it is based on stem cell?

    • Follicle Thought on January 1, 2022 at 3:26 pm

Happy New Year. It is a topical bacteria solution.

  10. Arias on January 1, 2022 at 2:54 pm

Wow! I started the year thinking, among many other things, “let’s see if this 2022 brings us some good new stuff for hair”, but hell, certainly I wasn’t expecting it within the first 15 hours lol
And Kintor phase II results should be released any moment now!

However, beyond the fact that the pictures aren’t the best of the best as for quality, it looks like a very big stuff, so big that carefulness is advisable, same story, optimism but without delusion.
    C’mon 2022, impress me!

    • Kapil on January 1, 2022 at 4:16 pm

      @Woofy97
Sorry I completely missed your point relate comment on new article

  11. Woofy97 on January 1, 2022 at 4:40 pm

@Kapil I don’t care. It’s not related to this article, you’re right but you should agree with my frustration instead of writing me something like that. Have a good day

    • Kapil on January 1, 2022 at 4:57 pm

      We are on same boat

  12. Keith on January 1, 2022 at 6:44 pm

Can we expect anything to come out in 2022?

  13. Gurvinder on January 1, 2022 at 9:06 pm

The word lactic acid has come across before also ,like hopemeds prolactin concept. It makes me think it being realistic.

  14. Gurvinder on January 1, 2022 at 9:10 pm

    FT
I have come out of utter hopelessness reading your articles many a times. Gratitude

    • Follicle Thought on January 1, 2022 at 10:47 pm

      Thanks Gurvinder

  15. Shayak on January 1, 2022 at 10:25 pm

Well this is a good start , @admin can we expect a update from exicure in Q1 ,2022? Abbvie is really hush hush about it.

  16. jonness on January 1, 2022 at 11:10 pm

Hmmm, the first group of photos shows a before and a picture 2 weeks later with new hair that has already grown to 2 or 3 inches long. It doesn’t seem possible to me. Mark me down as being skeptical on this one.

    • Follicle Thought on January 2, 2022 at 11:00 am

I hear ya jonness, my favorite photo set is Figure 3. Figure 1 is difficult to fathom or explain.

  17. Patrick Fors on January 1, 2022 at 11:47 pm

When they have a large trial with placebo at a recognized university only then should you be interested
Announcements of great things to come
Especially on Jan 1 serve to pump stock prices and little else
    Happy New Year!!!

    • Follicle Thought on January 2, 2022 at 6:20 am

For the time being while there is an obvious lull in hair treatment news, this absolutely is a valid piece of info to observe and discuss. How many companies are at the forefront of attention without yet completing a large placebo controlled trial? Basically all of them; it’s objective the readers want content to review.

As far as accusing this article of being part of some stock pump tactic, that theory falls flat. 1) I have nothing to do with NN Pharma 2) I’m all but certain they are not a publicly traded company 3) The timing of this article and the fact that it was even published was completely happenstance. I could have published it in the last week of December or not at all. Typically, I would delete a comment as non-sensical as that one but I will leave it up so people can learn from it. It’s not helpful to other readers for someone to spew ideas about stock pumping which are just false and irrelevant. If you want to share more thoughtful and benign comments, Patrick, you are welcome to post again.

  18. Fred on January 2, 2022 at 2:56 am

I dunno ..how come these pharma companies all seem to use the worst possible low quality camera that they can lay their hands on ?
Even a cheap smartphone would do a better job than this

    • Jim on January 2, 2022 at 8:13 am

Because they’ve had to sell all their expensive smartphones to fund the research…

      • Follicle Thought on January 2, 2022 at 10:54 am

I’m not vouching for the overall authenticity of these photos because I simply do not know, however I can say that the patent database is what is responsible for the low quality/resolution of the photos. See the patent from old friend RiverTown Therapeutics https://patentscope.wipo.int/search/en/detail.jsf?docId=US192355232&_cid=P20-KXXFLJ-65411-1 same blurred, black and white photos to decrease file size. Follicle Thought received full color better resolutions photos directly from Dr. Weinstein back then. It’s all but certain there are higher quality color photos from NN as well.

  19. Big Kahuna on January 2, 2022 at 7:06 am

Sounds very interesting indeed FT. Hypothetically speaking If this was released as a new treatment, would it have to go through clinical trials and get FDA approval etc? Or is this something that’s already been approved for human use in something else?

    • Follicle Thought on January 2, 2022 at 10:50 am

Big Kahuna, it seems as though it would still need clinical trials for approval. It does not seem as though there are drugs or products using FK-23 yet.

      • Big Kahuna on January 2, 2022 at 12:02 pm

Ah ok, thanks for clearing that up for me

  20. Steve on January 3, 2022 at 3:39 pm

Look at lifewaves photo therapy patches. They have amazing effects including hairgrowth. The patches are heat activated and reflect a narrow portion of the infrared back into the bodies acupressure points. That frequency stimulates a specific gene to produce peptides which our bodies lose the ability to produce. The latest X-49 patch stimulates the manfacture of a copper peptide essential for hairgrowth. The company recommends Combining it with derma rolling .

  21. Twenti on January 3, 2022 at 9:55 pm

Those results are pretty good, especially for the short timespan stated. Photos can be deceiving so I’m gonna stay cautiously optimistic.

  22. ah on January 5, 2022 at 9:05 am

Many years ago, Israeli students had a theory of curing alopecia similar to Nichinichi Pharmaceutica
    But they did nothing

    • Follicle Thought on January 5, 2022 at 4:41 pm

      I remember that group.

  23. ah on January 6, 2022 at 9:21 am

It could be a cosmetic product because there are the same bacteria Reuteri only the difference in quantity.
Reuter has about 5 billion bacteria
    Nichinichi Pharmaceutical 4000 billion

    • Follicle Thought on January 20, 2022 at 8:50 pm

This was a response from Nichi: “The number of compounded bacteria is not disclosed, but it will be much higher than the 400 billion.”

  24. Follicle Thought on January 20, 2022 at 8:53 pm

I’ve been in touch with a representative from Nichinichi who shares this message regarding what the product is: “It is the effect of lactic acid bacteria, and as another concept, it is planned to be sold in the United States as cosmetics. (Currently, we are aiming to release it in a limited area this year)”

    • Shayak on January 21, 2022 at 7:25 am

Wow that’s great news admin even if they Release it in a limited area. If the photos are indeed true then its a great treatment. If a single treatment can remain effective for a year then its a very very good treatment. I am looking forward to yuva biotech as well, mitochondria is very important in cellular function.

    • Keith on January 21, 2022 at 8:49 am

Hell ya! Good stuff FT! Appreciate all that you do!

      • Follicle Thought on January 21, 2022 at 8:55 am

Thanks Keith. More information on data is definitely needed at this point, but I’m doing my best to get more info as it comes. Will follow up in a few months.
