TechnoDerma Medicines Enters Clinical Trial & More

This article continues the recent trend of new company announcements within the hair growth treatment industry. Even better, today’s news involves a new drug entering a phase 1 clinical trial in the US.

New Drug Candidate TDM-105795

TechnoDerma Medicines Inc. of China is an early-stage biotech company based in the Zhejiang Province of China. The main focus of TechnoDerma is researching and developing innovative molecules for the treatment of dermatological conditions. Auspiciously, TechnoDerma’s lead program is a topical drug candidate for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia, called TDM-105795. Earlier this month, on May 10th, TechnoDerma announced that it had dosed its first two male patients in a phase 1 clinical trial for TDM-105795. From the news release, we learned that TDM-105795 is indeed a novel (new) drug being aimed at hair growth. Although TechnoDerma is based in China, its phase 1 clinical trial is being carried out by Therapeutics Inc., a contract research organization based in San Diego, CA. The trial is designed to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics (how the drug is distributed, absorbed, and excreted by the body) of TDM-105795. The TDM company website does not specifically mention what mechanism of action is targeted by its new hair loss drug.

If you live in the San Diego, CA area, you may be eligible to join the study. Starting inclusion criteria is for males ages 18-55 years old. Please let us know in the comment section if you will be attempting to join the study.

Another New Company: Aneira Pharma

It seems that almost on a monthly basis now, the hair growth industry is expanding with new legitimate contenders. One such new contender is Aneira Pharma based in San Diego, CA. Back in April 2021, Aneira and the Valkyrie Group issued a joint press release announcing a $25 million investment into Aneira to finance upcoming clinical trials for its lead candidate drug ANR-001. The press release also made clear that Aneira’s formula will be applicable for both men and women. $25M is certainly more than enough money to run a single clinical trial, so perhaps their plan is to initiate multiple trials for both males and females from the start.

aneirapharma.com/science

There are several before-and-after sets on the “Science” page of the Aneira website showing clear improvement of hair growth. Claims that this formula can also darken hair are made frequently on the website as well. The result depicted above displays a female subject who used ANR-001 for 1.5 months. While the Aneira website does not specifically mention the ingredients of ANR-001, it does mention that its “topical formula works without many of the side effects of existing formulas and products.” There are, however, patents issued to Aneira which are readily available online via an internet search which discuss hair growth compositions involving minoxidil, latanoprost, bimatoprost, and even cyclosporine A.

In time, it will be interesting to find out what the exact formulation of ANR-001 entails. It sounds as though they are taking a similar approach to the Triple Hair company by combining known hair growth enhancers to create a superior synergistic formula. We hope to hear that Aneira begins its clinical trials soon.

In particular, I am pleased to share news about a new drug being active in a US phase 1 trial.

Thanks again to reader John Doe for the news tips ?

      Not for now.

Thank you Shayak, I appreciate the support!

  4. John Doe on May 25, 2021 at 5:39 am

Thanks Admin! … For Aneira I dont understand whats going on. They already show treated people which got the drug over 3 months and show good results. Will they still run full 3 stage trials again? Could you maybe ask them what timeline they plan? In which trial are they actually?

    • Follicle Thought on May 25, 2021 at 7:30 am

John, you bring up a good point. They are using a formula which contains already-approved drugs (likely some combo of minox, latanoprost, maybe even cyclosporine) so they are able to test it on humans before actually doing a clinical trial. They should be able to start at a phase 2 trial because of this. I will try again to contact their leadership, I actually reached out to them before the investment news hit the internet a few months ago. We’ll see how things go this time.

What is the mechanism of action of TDM-105795. Can’t find anything online about it? Wondering if it’s some form anti androgen?

    • Follicle Thought on May 25, 2021 at 6:18 pm

James, it’s unknown for now but I thought it may be an anti-androgen as well.

      • thinningontop on May 25, 2021 at 6:27 pm

Patent mentions Thyroid receptor beta, doesn’t mention androgens.

Interestingly, pfizer had a thyroid receptor beta agonist for AGA which showed success in the macaque model.

Tucked somewhere on Aneira’s website it says they plan to start a Phase Ib / IIa trial in 1H 2021. Only about 5 weeks to go in 1H 2021. Might be delayed – like everything else seems to be right now.

  8. pjotre on May 26, 2021 at 2:07 pm

Okay, my question is why don’t they test people with stage 4 or 5 baldness? Then you can better see what the results are.

    • Follicle Thought on May 28, 2021 at 7:58 pm

I’m not sure Pjotre, perhaps they feel it is harder to grow hair in NW4/5 scalps.

  9. John on May 26, 2021 at 8:37 pm

Hi Admin, do you know what’s the state of Stem Cell Hair grafts ? They said they would start making the procedure available in 2021 but no clinic seems to be carryingthis out.

  10. Anthony D Salazar on May 27, 2021 at 6:47 am

Sorry for comments of this nature admin but do we know when Biosplice will release data for completed phase-3?

    • Vanngxy on May 27, 2021 at 7:27 am

      Bump

    • Follicle Thought on May 27, 2021 at 8:26 am

No problem, Anthony. We do not know but we can assume that the data will be released by Q3 2021. It’s possible they want the regulatory agency to make a decision before they release it publicly, which could also mean they may not release until the end of the year.

      • John on May 27, 2021 at 9:23 am

Hi @Admin, I am new here and I have been following you articles closely. I would like to thank you for all your effort in trying to inform us about all the most recent developments about AGA and other types of alopecia. I would like to ask you about the state of Stem Cell Hair grafts. They said they would start making the procedure available in 2020 but no clinic seems to be carrying this out. Are there any updates ?

        • Follicle Thought on May 27, 2021 at 6:17 pm

John, could you please be more specific about your question. What clinic or company are you referring to?

If you’re talking about “hair cloning” in general, there are still several groups pursuing this and you can find the further progressed ones on the Ultimate Guide to Hair Regeneration article on this site.

      • D1 on May 28, 2021 at 3:44 pm

@Follicle Thought how can we assume that they will release results in Q3 2021?

        • Follicle Thought on May 28, 2021 at 6:45 pm

It’s just an estimation/assumption D1. They will likely release the data once the regulatory officials have evaluated the data and I feel that should be around Sept/Oct. We’ll have to wait and see anyways.

          • D1 on May 29, 2021 at 1:05 pm

What regulatory agencies do you think would be looking at it?

I’m hoping they would have dropped it off the website by now if it didn’t work.

            • Follicle Thought on May 29, 2021 at 9:12 pm

The Turkish health authorities for sure.

  11. Drago77 on May 27, 2021 at 4:17 pm

off topic question: do you know smth about SAw Palmetto supliments (mainly side effects)? I heard that it is natural DHT blocker…Tks in advance!

    • Yoda on May 27, 2021 at 5:50 pm

Saw Palmetto is extremely weak for inhibiting DHT that will have little to no effect. See/consult with a doc and get on finasteride and use minoxidil. Yoda will go out on a limb here, if it’s “natural” it sucks!

      • Drago77 on May 28, 2021 at 3:59 am

thanks Yoda! Saw Palmetto is part of hair transplant package, for this reason I have asked about side effects

        • Yoda on May 28, 2021 at 9:28 am

Drago, if the transplant doctor is offering Saw Palmetto as part of their “package” I’d be very cautious and consider seeking out a different doctor. In the end we all have to do what we’re comfortable with, Yoda wouldn’t be comfortable with a doctor that is recommending a product with little to no effect on hair loss. They should know better!

    • Follicle Thought on May 27, 2021 at 6:15 pm

I have not heard any substantial positive feedback from using Saw Palmetto supplements for hair.

      • Drago77 on May 28, 2021 at 4:01 am

that means that there are side effects (as finasteride?!?!) or there are not positive effects?

        • Follicle Thought on May 28, 2021 at 7:22 am

I’ve not heard of side effects, but haven’t heard of substantial positive results either.

          • Yoda on May 28, 2021 at 9:30 am

The tow are inter-related…no positive effects = no side effects because Saw Palmetto doesn’t do much of anything!

        • envy on May 29, 2021 at 5:18 am

          Hey Drago77,

I’ve checked a lot of feedback on the interwebz in regards to saw palmetto.

There is a great deal of people who say that it does have some positive effects but that you need to ingest a very high amount of it on daily basis. On the flipside i’ve seen plenty of people complain about sides induced by saw palmetto. Nightmarish scenarios in the vein of PFS.

I honestly choose to believe that it is indeed a light form of finasteride and can produce minor effects. I’m using it right now, not as a solution but rather as a test drive to determine if my body responds negatively to it. If it pans out, I’ll move to fin

          • Follicle Thought on May 29, 2021 at 7:49 am

            Thanks for the info envy

          • Yoda on May 29, 2021 at 8:46 pm

Some people get sides from anything and everything, nothing will help them. Take that comment as you will, it is meant as a double entendre.

        • NotLying on June 14, 2021 at 10:58 pm

I’ve had bad side effects from Saw Palmetto.. took 3 weeks to go away, was the same type deal as Post Finasteride Syndrome. There is no point to using the product.

  12. Follicle Thought on May 27, 2021 at 7:41 pm

No one in or around San Diego that is considering signing up for this?

    • Yoda on May 27, 2021 at 7:43 pm

Yoda’s in San Diego, but as you know admin I’m older than dirt and outside of the age range. Probably would get disqualified anyways due to my treatment regime which I wouldn’t abandon for a trial.

Anisol, breezula is delayed in starting its clinical trial. The project has not been dropped in any announcement.

  14. MRKA on May 28, 2021 at 7:03 am

Thanks Admin..always good to know what the progress is.

A bit off topic…there is a product that could help millions right now. I understand that topical minoxidil works only for a lucky minority of people such as Yoda.
I am surprised that AB is rather quiet about AB-103 these days. Their claim that it helps non responders is far fetched considering their study results anyway.

AB comparable to Celino…looks like it.

    • Follicle Thought on May 28, 2021 at 7:23 am

Yes, we’re waiting for their further study to see if people grew more hair with the booster and minox compared to just minox. Don’t want to speculate on the results just yet but it has been a while since they were supposed to be published.

  15. Yoda on May 28, 2021 at 5:47 pm

Hi MRKA, you invoked the name of the Yoda, I wanted to clarify your statement. Topical Minox worked well for me but lost it’s effectiveness over time. I started with 2% back in the 80’s when I was a young man, which worked great. However I had to keep upping the strength as the years went by, eventually up to 15%. I question how much of an effect topical minox has on me these days but I’m not willing to give it up. Pus there are other “goodies” in my topical minox concoctions. Yoda’s theory is that we need to throw everything we can at hair loss within reason. I also don’t agree that topical minox only works for the minority if you’re also on an anti-androgen. Without fin (or dut) using topical minox alone is like pissing in the wind. 🙁

  16. MRKA on May 29, 2021 at 1:41 pm

    Hellou Yoda,

Certainly, Finasteride and Dutasteride are first line of defence. Without it the future looks probably grim. It goes without saying that all prescription medications should be taken under medical supervision (oral minoxidil belongs to this group)
The efficacy of Minoxidil is most likely related to the sulfatransferase enzyme.
The unfortunate ones have a low amount. The fortunate ones have a high amount. Its my understanding that oral administration increases the amount of the enzyme (produced in the liver) Thus sublingual administration may not be ideal. AB claimed that AB-103 increases the enzyme. However study data were not conclusive. I have obtained the study ‘Microneedling improves minoxidil response in androgenetic alopecia patients by upregulating follicular sulfotransferase enzymes’. A small study. But it shows the increase due to microneedling. Of interest was that Aspirin use lowers the amount of enzyme. A real headache indeed.
I contacted AB and asked them if I can be tested in Vienna. After all I don’t want to smear that stuff on my head for minimal gain. The AB response was unsatisfactory. As I also stab my scalp I wasn’t overly concerned about the test anymore. Then I considered use of oral minoxidil as it is much easier to use. Finally I managed to obtain Loniten. Not easy to get in my country.
You stated that you are or at least were a good responder. Thus you can be probably considered to be one of the lucky ones. A fair comment methinks. That only 40% are responders was a statement made in an FT article a while ago. Hope this explains a few things.

    • Kapil on May 29, 2021 at 2:04 pm

Hi admin we are eagerly waiting for your update on triple hair which is closer to release
      Thanks

      • Follicle Thought on May 29, 2021 at 9:14 pm

Hi Kapil, I shared the response to a reader in this thread. My contact at Triple Hair said the male and female products are launching later this year. He does not want to estimate a date again because it seems they missed their first release timeline. But it’s coming this year, branded products for men and women.

    • Yoda on May 29, 2021 at 7:04 pm

Hi MRKA, agree with most all that you wrote. Just wanted to be clear on my personal situation. 40% is a minority, if that’s an accurate number, although not horrible and unfortunately one of the few tools we have in the hair loss toolbox. Possibly oral might work for some of the 60% , it did jump start my hair again after topical seemed to wane.

  17. Maryuma on May 31, 2021 at 7:20 am

    Hi Follicle Friends,
I am a healthy 60+ woman with Female Androgenetic Alopecia, apparently genetic (all lab tests are normal). Do not want to use anything with minoxidil. Am considering PRP treatment but am anxious about its efficacy and the thought that it might be potentially carcinogenic since it promotes angiogenesis…have surveyed lots of scientific lit online and even those in favor say there’s not enough hard science about it. Any recommendations about it or something else? I appreciate your thoughts and wish you all good health:)

    • Follicle Thought on May 31, 2021 at 2:02 pm

The idea of PRP causing cancer sounds a bit far-fetched to me, I had not heard that one before. Its efficacy for hair growth varies, of course, with fewer people finding benefit than those who do not. For female AGA, if you don’t want to take minoxidil there are not many more options. You could speak to a dermatologist about spironolactone; I’ve also heard of finasteride being used rarely for women over child-bearing age. Thanks for the well wishes and best wishes to you, too.

      • Maryuma on May 31, 2021 at 5:08 pm

Thanks so much for your comments, they are greatly appreciated.
        Best wishes

  18. Anthony Salazar on May 31, 2021 at 4:30 pm

Yoda I would be interested in a detailed account of your life, sir. Do you have an autobiography/blog? How did you come to be so persistent with hair treatment? Also, have you ever gone for FUE?

I am also personally very happy with this post.

    • Yoda on May 31, 2021 at 5:40 pm

Hahah Anthony, thanks for the compliment ( I think) but not sure why anyone would be interested in old pompous Yoda’s life! I’m sure I also piss some readers of FT off, in real life I’m not this big of an ass, still an ass just not as big! In general, I stayed on top of my hair loss as I’m a sales guy and it’s best to look your best. Even more so, I stayed single for the better part of my life and chasing the chicas lends itself to looking one’s best, especially in Southern CA, where the “beautiful people” live. I didn’t have FUE but did have 2 very small FUT procedures (I think it was 300 grafts each) in the early 90’s before FUE was a thing. At that time the only treatment we had was 2% topical minox which was starting to loose it’s effectiveness so I panicked and had the FUTs. Fortunately shortly thereafter I went to a great doc (Dr. Peter J. Panagotacos, M.D) and got 5% minox and fin off label before FDA approved for hair loss. Then I discovered the great Dr. Lee and his products. Both these docs kept me from having to go back to the transplant route. After Dr. Lee’s demise I floundered around and lost some ground. Oral Minox is what kickstarted my hair along with the other crap I throw at it (dut, bimatoprost, etc.). So there you have it…I know, riveting! 😉

I also do my best (and maybe my worst) to try and add some humor.

        • Yoda on June 1, 2021 at 7:00 pm

Appreciate that Kapil, Yoda has used his fair share of snake oil and had a few useless treatments. We are all looking for hope and sometimes that hope is blind. Part of why I don’t get excited about news of things that aren’t actually in clinical trials. I really thought we’d have some new treatments by now, unfortunately it’s just not the case. However, we need to remain positive and hopeful while being realistic. Over the years, researching the options, doctors, etc. and raying to be in control of the situation is what helped me to remain positive. While some things were bogus, I have retained a good amount of hair since thinning at age 17, now 58. Remember, when I was 17 there was no minox, fin, dut and only plugs for transplants. I guess I was lucky as new things did come out in time. If not, I’d be horseshoe bald by now, years ago actually.

      • Turtle on December 20, 2021 at 11:19 pm

Hi yoda thanks for your input. I’m in once a week dut and it’s working great for me and topical minox (not so great). I wanted to try oral minox along with topical bimatoprost and lantanaprost. Where do you get prescriptions of these drugs in the us? Thanks

  20. Woofy97 on May 31, 2021 at 11:44 pm

If you mean other treatments that we have known about for a long time (SM04554, Breezula, etc.) then no there is no news at the moment. However, this article is about a new drug which is now in a human trial which is basically the best type of news we get. Keep your head up, perhaps develop a strategy for staying positive when you start to lose your footing.

Hi Admin, I know you get these requests frequently (“any update on ..?”), so I’m sorry to bother you with this as well but if you ever get the chance to interview Henri Doods from Hope Medicine on HMI 115 I would really appreciate it. I think they are quite busy (e.g. hiring him for his expertise in bringing products through clinical stages to the market, successfully closing a new round of financing, pending phase 2 studies in several regions scheduled for 2021) so I guess they would have a lot to tell (of course that is if they are willing to share any news). I saw that he is on Linkedin but apparently not regularly as he hasn’t even updated his profile since he joined Hope Medicine. Anyways, thanks in advance and thanks for all the efforts you put into this site, it is highly appreciated by all of us!

What would you want to know Vienna Austria? It worked amazing in macaques (even better than fin, min and RU58841), they have the funding, apparently there are no safety issues with phase I and they will most likely start trials this year in multiple countries.

    • Follicle Thought on June 8, 2021 at 9:32 am

Hi Vienna, so far Henri Doods does not want to do an interview. It could be the reason that perhaps this drug still has ties to the larger company Bayer and they want to be limited in their media disclosures. The same could be true even if they are not still tied to Bayer.

      • Maker on June 9, 2021 at 3:35 am

Have you thought about trying Xiao Rui-Ping? She did interviews in the past and probably studied in the US.

        • Follicle Thought on June 9, 2021 at 11:19 am

I did happen to think of that Maker, but thanks for the tip. So far they are quiet. Hopefully it’s because they have something worth being quiet about.

      • Vienna Austria on June 9, 2021 at 2:36 pm

        Thanks nevertheless, Admin!

@Maker: I would have been interested in their phase 1 results, their timeline for phase 2 trials and consequently plans on market release if everything goes well in the upcoming trials, etc. However, I completely understand that due to their partnership with another company (or for whatever other reason) their ability to disclose information is probably limited.

    Hello Admin,

Have you ever covered QR 678? It looks to have FDA approval, but only available in India.

    • Follicle Thought on June 9, 2021 at 2:02 pm

Hi Zack, I’ve looked at QR678 but I just don’t find it to be too convincing. Seems like PRP more or less, it can help some but I don’t think it’s a reliable option. Just my opinion on it.

  29. Anthony D Salazar on June 11, 2021 at 9:59 am

Admin, do you think it’s worth looking into and trying to reach out to this company in Cambridge involved in making therapeutics derived from Ostrich eggs? They have one published study supporting their product but further investigation is warranted.

    https://www.ostrigen.com/

    • Follicle Thought on June 11, 2021 at 10:54 am

I did see this company Anthony, but I am not overly interested to be honest. I don’t see anything that stands out in their data. I do appreciate you sharing it here though.

    • Dave on June 11, 2021 at 11:24 am

I filled out the questionnaire and they said I qualify for there early evaluation team and are sending me three months worth of product for free. All they asked for was a before pictures. If you google them there are some decent pictures, no jaw dropping results but if you want stabbilization and some gain so you can get a transplant this might work. Plus in three months we will know if it works. I’m excited but I was also excited about brozo.

      • Dave on June 11, 2021 at 11:27 am

        I’m talking about ostrigen

      • Follicle Thought on June 11, 2021 at 1:19 pm

Dave, will you share your progress here?

        • Dave on June 11, 2021 at 1:39 pm

Yes I took a lot of before pics. Ups tracking says it’s on the way. One positive is the didn’t ask for anything except before pictures. I think there confident with the product. And in three months we will know if it works

          • Follicle Thought on June 11, 2021 at 5:41 pm

This is interesting Dave, I think it’s even worthy of the Updates page now that they sent you something for free. Thanks for sharing!

          • Yoda on June 11, 2021 at 6:29 pm

Yoda’s prediction on Ostrigen…it makes you want to stick your head in the sand! 😉 Come on now, that was funny!

            • Follicle Thought on June 13, 2021 at 12:15 pm

That one was funny Yoda. I’m getting more intrigued with all of these readers who are receiving free product at the moment. Wonder if the concept will actually produce a small effect ?

  33. Anthony Salazar on June 12, 2021 at 2:46 am

I have also received a free bottle (just one) but I believe this will end up closer to 1 month’s supply than 3. I will take note of progress and post pics. There are also discount codes.

  34. Toccata on June 12, 2021 at 2:14 pm

    From the Ostrigen website:

“We don’t ever want people to pay unless OstriGrow works.”

Risky strategy! That guy has a big set of… eggs. I’m in! Plus it was on my bucket list to crack an ostrich egg over my head at least once in my life. Figure this is close enough.

    • Dave on June 12, 2021 at 5:15 pm

I love there confidence. How many hair loss products say buy our product for a year and see if it works, I spent290 for three bottles of brozos lotion. In three months the rubber hits the road for ostrigen and we get to find out for free. If this works I’m going to buy every ostrich in North America

      • Toccata on June 12, 2021 at 8:11 pm

Here’s the patent for whatever it is we’re going to be rubbing into our scalps: https://patents.justia.com/patent/10246520

If I’m reading this correctly, they injected 5α-reductase and DHT into Ostriches and the birds produced highly sensitive antibodies (the response to antigens: 5α-reductase and DHT). Those antibodies were then extracted from the egg yolks and I guess bottled to be given to us for free, haha. They claim: “The antibody of the present invention is considered to be capable of preventing alopecia because the antibody blocks hair loss-inducing substances such as 5α-reductase and DHT.”

TLDR: We’re gonna defeat DHT using Ostrich power-ups.

        • Follicle Thought on June 13, 2021 at 10:47 am

That is some interesting information Toccata, thanks for sharing.

    • Kapil on June 13, 2021 at 2:20 pm

I think they send 30 days supply you are forced pay for two months anyway we find out soon , that is strength of this forum

      • Dave on June 13, 2021 at 2:39 pm

I just reread the email they sent me. three month supply free. I don’t see why everyone is down on ostrigen. So many times people complain about a hair loss company doing 10 years of mouse studies with no pictures. Ostrigen is ready now and I would be overjoyed with the results in some of there pictures. Hair loss is undefeated but we really have nothing to lose with ostrigen

  35. Toccata on June 12, 2021 at 4:11 pm

Okay, I got my Ostrigen acceptance email and sent off the before pictures.

I’ve never taken pictures of my head before. It’s actually incredibly frustrating how well taken my pictures were— balanced lighting, centred and focused directly on my scalp, macro closeup with reference spots and marked anagen hairs with green squares for accurate base count—now I hate these companies even more with their garbage, blurry, deceptive before/after photos. If a moron like me can spend twenty minutes setting up, taking, and marking up a quality photo, what’s their excuse but abysmal incompetence.

I have no hope in this product but I will follow the protocol to a T and be brutally honest whichever way the yolk runs. Happy trials fellas.

  36. Woofy97 on June 12, 2021 at 7:01 pm

I don’t have a toupee/hair system but I’m just saying. I think the modern day toupee needs new technology to make it extremely realistic looking. Like a very thin layer of fake skin surgically attached on the scalp (not this glue stuff anymore) by a doctor and then transplanted fake hair. Like a hair transplant but the hairs don’t actually go into the scalp. I don’t know that’s probably stupid a idea lol but I just think the whole toupee/hair system wig area needs to get better and innovative.

  37. Woofy97 on June 13, 2021 at 5:01 pm

FT you know who makes pretty realistic hair systems? This guy I found on instagram his IG is hairsay514 he’s Canadian. I think he does Hollywood movies and tv shows but I’m not sure one post he was wearing a wig and said something about meryl streep But idk

    • Follicle Thought on June 13, 2021 at 6:11 pm

Thanks for sharing that Woofy, that’s good info. Regarding the recent Update, I thought the most value was in hearing the guy talk about his hair and the decision to wear a system at a young age. His motto is basically: if you want to shave your head, shave it, if you want to wear a system or get a transplant, go for it. I think he’s sensible.

      • Woofy97 on June 13, 2021 at 9:33 pm

no problem FT. I like his motto

  38. Follicle Thought on June 13, 2021 at 6:14 pm

To the readers who are getting samples of OstriGrow: are any of you interested in sharing your before/after photos?

The reason I ask is, if any of you are interested, I will create a page dedicated to OstriGrow photos and it will have its own comments section.

  39. Toccata on June 13, 2021 at 6:50 pm

I would definitely share my results but if nothing happens I’ll just mention it in the comments. I’m a buzzed high norwood so no combover tricks possible—I’ll know quite well after the free trial if something has actually happened. If by some miracle it does work, I’ll pay for at least a year supply and continue. It’s the same price as minoxidil. (Note: They haven’t shipped anything to me yet so I can’t even guarantee I’ll get the stuff and if they ask for a credit card or to sign some sketchy fine print, I’ll bail.)

One thing though because it is an informal trial I’m not going off minoxidil-microneedling. They mention in the patent:

“The antibody may be concurrently used with minoxidil […] a higher level of hair growth action can be expected.”

So I’ll consider this as a potential side-effect free, probably much less potent, substitute for Finasteride as part of a pseudo Big 3 and not a standalone cure. I should also note I’m a minoxidil non-responder—in 7+ years I’ve never lost or grew hair with it. I just buy it out of habit or fear. It would be nice to have some safe synergy—’actually grow something.

    • Dave on June 13, 2021 at 7:13 pm

Looking at ups tracking I should get product Tuesday , I’ll send pics of the bottles with the instructions

  40. Toccata on June 14, 2021 at 12:08 am

And I just got a shipping confirmation email with my tracking number. I’m not even in USA. I was half expecting them to say they wouldn’t send free stuff internationally, but here we go. Wild! I’ll keep in touch.

  41. Anthony Salazar on June 14, 2021 at 2:39 am

I’m also located outside US right now so hopefully I can send it directly to Europe. The bottle reached my home address in US no issues or additional payment. FT can count me in to post before/afters with additional info.

    Hello there!
    Any news from Kintor?

  43. Yoda on June 14, 2021 at 2:14 pm

A survey from Mane Biotech was in Yoda’s (actually my real world persona’s) email box this morning, imagine other may have received as well. It’s hard for me to put much stock in this, not from anything they are or are not doing. More from the history of devices that were supposed to help with androgenic alopecia (and didn’t). However, I watch with interest until proven one way or the other. They do seem confident about their product, guess even a scam would need to act the same to get suckers. The only nuggets I gleaned from the survey is that they are trying to hammer out a “subscription” vs. purchase model and get their marketing set. My best guess (again guess) is that they are many months away, as a best case scenario.

  44. Follicle Thought on June 14, 2021 at 7:12 pm

Thanks to all who will share their stories and photos on the new OstriGrow discussion page. The link is also in the Updates page.

    • Follicle Thought on June 14, 2021 at 9:36 pm

It’d have to be about 7 years out if they are planning on starting a phase 1 human trial next year. The important part is for them to reach their goals on time and get good/safe results.

      • Shayak on June 14, 2021 at 10:34 pm

Hi admin, do you think there are more companies working on hair loss research secretly, that we might not know of( because they don’t want to) , like some big phrma invested University research ?

        • Yoda on June 14, 2021 at 10:58 pm

If it’s a secret how would Admin know the answer…unless maybe, he’s part of a the clandestine hair loss iluminati! 😉

          • Shayak on June 15, 2021 at 12:34 am

Just some sort of speculation maybe?..since he is closer to to the hair loss research community than any of us here.

        • Follicle Thought on June 15, 2021 at 9:50 am

I think there are at least several more companies working on hair research behind the scenes, but I don’t necessarily know who they are at the moment.

This Ostrigen ordeal is worrying me :-s what if everyone starts sending their after pictures and we only see ostriches in them

    • Yoda on June 15, 2021 at 9:08 am

If that’s the case envy, we could deduct that the product laid an egg. Hats off to the folks that are trying this, for your own mental health keep your expectations in check. Toccata has a realistic attitude about this “golden egg”.

      • Yoda on June 15, 2021 at 9:36 am

Would Ostrigen even be a thing on this site if it wasn’t for the free trial? Also, what is the CV19 nasal spray (pic) on their website? As the kids say, things that make you go hmmm!

        • Dave on June 15, 2021 at 11:11 am

If I invented a scam hairloss product I would sell it for as much as I could to as many people as I could, then I would take pictures in my own office with combovers and doctor the lighting. Then I would say hair grows slowly you need to buy my product for a year or more. Ostrigen is free they even pay shipping 90days it’s over and take your own photos. Literally nothing to lose. As for cv19 if our lord and savior dr fauci doesn’t say it works I wouldn’t take it. my last comment on this site

          • Follicle Thought on June 15, 2021 at 11:17 am

I wonder if he was serious about the Fauci thing though ??. Well, good luck with the trial Dave.

          • Toccata on June 15, 2021 at 12:43 pm

Exactly. Nothing to lose. In fact, I’m thinking about being annoyingly adamant and holding them to their quote, “We don’t ever want people to pay unless OstriGrow works”

Oh! you don’t EVER want people to pay UNLESS it WORKS, do you? So if it doesn’t work, I want you to keep giving me free bottles until it does, then I’ll happily pay. And then you can use my pictures to promote your product. I want to see how they reject my proposal—easiest way to expose the scam. Maybe I’ll be just one of those *rare non-responders*.

        • Toccata on June 15, 2021 at 12:25 pm

It’s the freeness that sold me… and cause I’m bored waiting for Breezula… and it’s funny… and I’m not on any DHT blocker. Before I signed up I looked up the doctor and he seems sincere; doesn’t sound like a quack… maybe he’s whatever noise ostriches make, but I’ll give him this chance… but not my money… and not my real name… haha… Let’s grow some hair boys!!!! • Yoda on June 15, 2021 at 2:39 pm

I totally get where you’re coming from Toccata, Dave not so much. Even though the doc seems credible we’ve had other recent products that were of the same vein. Think Brotzu and that Turkish foreskin cream. They both seemed to come from reputable origins but in the end did little to nothing. Same could be said for lasers and PRP. Some science behind it doesn’t necessarily mean it will work for most, with any appreciable results. I’m not saying this is the case with OstriGrow and I hope it does pan out. If not and if the money guarantee is legit then you’ve got nothing to loose, except possibly more hair . Although no more than without OstriGrow. You guys have to admit, the name sounds pretty ridiculous if nothing else. Even if it works could you tell anyone about it? 😉

  47. Kapil on June 15, 2021 at 3:36 pm

They have no research photos to show only customers review photos that is not useful but one thing i am sure these photos are not doctored sooo poor can’t see any improvement

  48. Toccata on June 15, 2021 at 4:25 pm

About the research, that’s not exactly true Kapil,

The actual study they conducted posted all 17 of the participants photos—that’s pretty unique. I can’t see much improvement either but these are all older guys (the age range was 39 to 78) and none of them were or have ever been taking any other treatments for AGA. I’m already team Minoxidil/Microneedling—looking for a Fin substitute. We’ll see how well this compounds—they seem to think it will work really well.

Dave is pretty much like me—cautiously hopeful, not quite optimistic—he mentioned above he had bought a supply of Brotzu, so I trust he’ll be able to judge a scam. Me, I’m in this for laughs. And it would be hilarious if it took me back 2-3 Norwoods. haha. Think of the memes.

    Here’s the study: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/336556647_The_Efficacy_of_Ostrich_Antibodies_to_Dihydrotestosterone_and_5_a_-Reductase_in_the_Restoration_of_Hair_Growth
